We've done the dips, oral mange medication, antibiotics for skin infection, vitamins for sensitive skin, expensive sensitive skin dog food, two different salves and benadril for the itching! My hutch looks like a mini-pharmacy. |

Wise, About how long did it take to clear up? It started out along her eyebrows and straight down her nose, that seems to have cleared up, her hair has grown back on that part of her---it's the rest of her body that is a mess. |

What kind of mange is it? Sarcoptic or demodectic? |

It's the demodectic mange, they said it can be brought on by stress and she did go into heat right before the mange returned..we've had her fixed since than. |

My doggy Molly got that right after she was in season...We think a stray dog might have given it to her...but who knows...I know I got some stuff at a pet store that worked wonders...It was really bad (the mange) to the point I didn't think she was going to make it. I wish I could remember the name of the stuff I used...I'll ask my kids later and let you know... |

Thanks Grey Eyed Girl, I don't think the kind Jesse has is contagious, or I hope not because I'd hate to think she could pass it on to my girls! At this point I'll try anything, so hopefully you can find out the name of what you used. |

I'd use ivermectin or premectin it's prescription only... demodex is a pain to get rid of... |

Wise, I looked up sulphar and it is used on the other kind of mange, or I'd give that a try to! Also found a site that says to shave them before dipping, so I am going to shave her tomorrow, bathe her with Benzolyl Peroxide and dip her with the last of the dip I have the day after that...see if that works. If it doesn't, I'll try what Kethria recommended. |
