Wilfred as always made a situation breezy. “That was one crazy white girl” he said. He was wearing a cowboy outfit that day, and he dusted off his fringes on his….she couldn’t believe she didn’t realize it until now, his CHAPS. He was wearing underwear that had a picture of Freddy Boom Boom Washington from Welcome Back Kotter on it saying ‘Hi There’. She shook her head in disbelief, disbelief in his underwear and disbelief in what Lynn had just done. “I guess we should go make a special phone call” he said.
“The crew” still had wide open mouths. “Haven’t you even seen a crazy woman jump off a mountain before?” Wilfred asked. And they said no it’s not that…um it’s they pointed to his rear and Wilfy did a little dance and they said nevermind. Wilfred went in and called the police but he called her attention at the door frame. “You forgot to open up this gift” Kristen came to the door and it was a beautifully wrapped box in a pearlesque type of wrapping paper. “Fredo you shouldn’t have you already have given me so much” she was about to open it. “I didn’t give it to you Doll”, she looked at “the crew” they all shook their heads. Maybe one of her few guests had got her something and were shy about it or something.
It was so beautiful. She couldn’t stop thinking beautiful. The beautiful wrapping and now this beautiful gift. It was a silver necklace with a green stone. There was a little tiny typewritten note that said ‘Happy 16th’ and then a couple of lines down it said ‘I adore you’. How strange. “Wilff?” She turned around and put her hair up so he can clasp it at her neck. She handed him the note. “Someone has themselves a secret admirer!” he shouted with glee.
She thought about her 4 crushes. Was it Jeremy Martin? Or how about Lance Marks? Or how about Jimmy Padgett (she hoped not, almost a year later he would be in jail for accusingly raping Cara Mumfry) or was it Ryan Thompson? All she knew that is that she had dreams. Dreams that would help her suppress what she saw and felt that day, seeing Lynn flying off a mountain where her beloved Uncle Frank had once flown.
She was mad at Lynn again because she had planned to go and see Uncle Frank’s shrine they had made near the end of the mountain. But now the cops would be there and she didn’t want to fool with all of that. She told Wilfred that she was going to go for a ride herself. Kristen went into the garage and there was her buddy, her legacy of motorbike. Her old friend ‘Silly Willy’. She had painted it differently than what her Uncle had painted it. Gone were the orange red flames on the black background with a silver smiling skull, now there were green flames on the pink background with a dark green smiling skull.
She put on her helmet and then headed out to go to the mall. She didn’t want to be around for awhile, wasn’t in the mood to deal with the cops, it might of conjured up memories that she wanted to forget and was amazed because she didn’t care that Lynn was gone. She was going to have to pass that creep Chris Hammond’s house, why did she despise him so much? Maybe it was because he got the last copy that time of the ‘Lost Boys Soundtrack’ and she wanted it. Maybe it was because he stared at her a bit too much as if she had expelled gas or something. Maybe it was because in class he would contradict everything she said and made her feel stupid. Maybe it was because he was a good looking guy and too bad he had to be a creepazoid.
Well the moment came, she was about to pass his house. She was hoping that he wouldn’t be outside, but he was there and he flagged for her to stop. Her heart was racing, she wasn’t in the mood for a confrontation. She stopped ‘Willy’ and he had that goofy grin on his face. He was looking at her necklace. He better not say anything about her necklace she happened to like it. “I heard it was your birthday” he started. She wondered what mean thing was he going to say. “and that not many people came to your house…” That was it, that did it she didn’t want a nose rubbing about the lack of people to celebrate her birthday, she rode off on ‘Willy’. In the background she could hear him saying something, she couldn’t quite make out what he was saying. Something about a “floor” and “you”. She rode off to the mall.
