My dad died of brain cancer on April 9th, 2004. He was one of the most caring, funniest, brave, and enthusiastic people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. He always had a smile on his face and would always drop whatever he was doing to help a friend or relative. He loved bike riding and basketball and was a very active man. He also loved landscaping and growing things in his garden. He was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme in March of 2003 and throughout his illness, he kept his smile and still made people laugh. I know he was doing this to keep us from being too sad and I'm so proud of him for being as brave as he was. Thankfully, he was not in pain at the end and slipped into the next world quietly in his sleep. It hurts to know that I'll never get to see him again in this lifetime and that I'll never get to talk to him or hear his laugh. It also hurts to know that he'll never walk me down the aisle or hold his grandchildren. But I do know that he is watching over me....and I hold some comfort in that.
