DO YOU EVER HAVE AROMA'S, OR SCENTS THAT TRIGGER MEMORIES? -Leana

The other day I was at a store and as I walked through it, I could smell a familiar scent, at the time I didn't realize who's it was but when I got home I soon remember who's it was/is. The scent triggered memories of me being a child at my Grandmother's, it was her perfume that I smelled when I was in the store. And even tho she lives in another city, I felt like she was right there with me. And every so often even when Lilac's are not in bloom I smell them. And these remind me of my Great-Grandmother who I had the privalege of knowing until I was 19 years old then she passed away.

So anyways, I was just wondering if anyone here on USM had/has some scents or aroma's that bring back fond memories, and if they do what do they bring back to you?

*hugs*

Leana

Date: 7/27/2004 5:59:00 PM  From Authorid: 57232    I can't smell well and my ex roomate/still friend Patricia and I were talking about how we can't smell well but oddly some smells out of nowhere stick out, well we were in the pool of the apartment we were living in and I smelled Macaroni and Cheese being made, isn't that strange? I actually smelled it and she said no way, and then we actually got up out of the pool and went to go knock on the person's sliding glass window and ask if that's what they are cooking. Isn't that weird? And I never realized it had a smell until then

Date: 7/27/2004 7:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 3125    There are no scents but there are some sounds that triggers memories. One a warm summer day if I here the humming of an airplane in the distance, I will get a lonesome feeling. It takes me back to when I was growing up and I would lie back and look up and watch the clouds, planes, and birds, etc. I would get such a peaceful feeling in those days. I realize that when I get that lonesome feeling now that I am relating to those times that are gone.

Date: 7/28/2004 6:33:00 AM  From Authorid: 62704    I have had this happen to me quite a few times. Usually with perfume or men's cologne even lotion. If you close your eyes it will take you right back to those days and the memories pop up in your mind. It's weird because if it is a sad memory you can actually feel the pain in your heart at the moment. ~Star Angel~
