Hey everyone...haven't been around that much lately...have had alot going on. One of the the things of my bad luck thats been happening is this....

2 years ago my lease was up on my truck and they were having a sale on used cars at the time..so my husband and I had found a 1998 explorer that had 48K miles on it. We likes it, so we decided on buying it. Well lately I have been having alot of problems with it and spent like $1500 on repairs and maintenance on it. At the same time my husbands old car has been going as well, so we have been getting hit from every angle in the car catagory. SO....right now I have 77K miles on the truck and the things that went on it should not have gone on it at 77K miles so I decided to run a CARFAX report on the truck. It looks as if the mileage was turned back 97,561 miles. I had called the dealership and after like 2 days they dug up the old carfax report that they pulled up two years ago when I bought it and faxed it over to me. Of course the whole report looked different and there was nothing in it about the mileage. I had contacted a lawyer who specializes in this being it is fruad and being I am driving around in a truck that I thought had 77K miles on it when in reality have more like 175K miles on it. The lawyer seems to think I have an excellent case, but I'm not sure what will happen or come out of it. Out of curiousity has anyone else ever been through something like this??? And if so, what came out of it? Thanks

Andrea - ItalianPrincess

Date: 7/25/2004 6:50:00 PM  From Authorid: 6003    Hi Andrea, sorry to hear about your car troubles. A GM dealer in my area was completely shut down for this type of thing. A word of advise, buy a Toyota. Myself and members of my family have been buying/driving Toyotas for almost 20 years now. They are dependable cars and last nearly forever with just regular mantinance. How is your dog? Bisco, our little girl dog, has been having eye problems and we have take her to a veterinary opthalmalogist this coming Thursday. Our regular vet has done numerous tests and can do nothing more for her. Hope everything works out for you and me too.

(compare the VIN numbers) It isn't impossible, but seems HIGHLY unlikely that your 4 year old vehicle (when you bought it) would have almost 150,000 miles on it. If so, you definately got a good case going. Good luck.

Date: 7/26/2004 6:08:00 AM  From Authorid: 62675    When I bought my new used car I did a carfax report before I even test drove it. I don't trust used car dealers they do anything to make a buck.
Date: 7/26/2004 9:38:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 58078    Yes we compared the vin numbers on both car fax reports. That was the first thing I checked...both are correct. When I first bought the car I really didn't know to much about carfax. We just got a used car for my husband and we were sure to print out a car fax report on that one before buying. Thanks for the replies everyone. *HUGS*
