“Who is this?” Asked Aurora, trying to sound braver than she felt. It was obvious Jessi was a little shaken up, but just as much addicted as ever to use the board.
The placette moved fluidly around the board and spelt “Amen”
“Amen…BullS*&%. Amen is for the end of a prayer. That isn’t a name.” Replied Aurora.
Suddenly, the Placette became agitated in movement, circling aggressively around the board. The point of the Placette then pointed to Aurora and spelt out G-O-D.
“You aren’t God. God wouldn’t be working through a board!!” Aurora replied agitated. To her it was obviously some spirit or entity trying to poke fun.
“Who are you?” Repeated Aurora
The Spirit spelt out A-M-O-N
“Maybe he’s meaning to spell “A Man” maybe the spirit is a man!” exclaimed Jessi with excitement.
The Placette went to “No” and then to “Yes”
“Are you a good spirit or a Bad spirit?” Asked Jessi
Movement went to the Sun and then the moon.
“I guess that makes him both” Aurora stated.
Yes was the boards reply. The placette began to wander around the board for a while as Jessi and Aurora’s Eyes met over the board.
“What else do we ask him, Jessi?”
“How about when are we going to die?” She replied
“Hell, no!” Snapped Aurora, not even wanting to go there. But that didn’t really matter to the spirit of the board. It had heard Jessi and already started spelling out words.
“ J is already dead. He has her soul,” replied the board.
Looking a little shaken, Jessi pulled her hands away from the placette and gets up to her feet.
“I don’t know about you, but I’m thirsty! You want something to drink?”
Pulling her hands away from the placette as well, Aurora gazed up at Jessi, noticing she looked a little upset. She obviously needed a break away from the board.
“Yeah, that’s a great idea!”
“Cool, Be right back!!” She replied in her singsong “Everything’s okay with the world” voice as she closed the bedroom door behind her.
Aurora took her time to look around Jessi’s room. The walls were bare except for a crucifix that hung over her bed. The Candles were perched up on the beds headboard and her writing desk. Turning her head back towards the bed, Aurora notices something peaking out from under the bed. Curiosity getting the best of her, she reaches out and pulls out a shoebox decorated in a cut out mural of various demon women comic book images. The box was also covered with strange drawings that somehow looked familiar to her.
