I'm afraid that I might ACTUALLY be sick

I'll try to keep this short but if anyone here is a nurse or Doctor or knows anything about this kind of stuff , please reply .

Aver since I was in the 9th grade my 'nodes in my neck have stayed either swallen or sore . Their only sore when they are touched or ehen someone lightly applies pressure to them . My dad had thyroid cancer and I know that makes my chances of getting it pretty high . Not only because he's my dad , but because women get thyroid cancer more so then men do . I've seen a dr before about it and told him and he basically said nothing was wrong . Second thing , my periods are really irregular . The put me on Birth Control back in November of 03 but I only took it for that month because it made me feel horrible. I got my period in November but I didn't get another one until March of this year . And since then , I have not had one . I went back on the pill this month and I am almost done with them . I'm on Ortho tri cyclen lo and I should have had my period before I took all the blue pills but I have not . I'm not even having any signs that is it coming soon . Third thing , last night the back of my head , near the base of my skull started to throb so I decided to go to bed and sleep it off . The morning I could not get up with out my brain feeling like it would explode every time I sat up , stood up or sat down . It feels like my brain swells like a ballon and hit the side of my skull , it's odd and it hurts something aweful !! I took pain killers and that did no good . What do you think it is ? I am fine if I am just laying down or sitting down or standing .... it's getitng up , sitting up , sitting down and bending over that does it .

None of the problems are related I don't think ... but your input wouldbe nice . I've seen a dr about the first two and he doesn't say much .

Date: 7/22/2004 5:17:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    My only imput....I suggest you take it. GO to your doctor and talk to them.
Date: 7/22/2004 5:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 8278    I am not a nurse, and I do wish I could be of some help...but I know I won't be of much. the headache part sounded almost like a migrane. maybe stress? I would definitly advise you to see your doctor again and voice all of your concerns to him and ask him to thouroughly check you out. I was like a hypochondriac (sp) for a while and I am sure I drove my doctor nuts with illnesses LOL but it is better to be safe than sorry. I hope it all works out for you.
Date: 7/22/2004 5:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 50499    My advice to you is get yourself into the doctor. Better safe than sorry.
Date: 7/22/2004 6:17:00 PM  From Authorid: 25390    Get a second opinion
Date: 7/22/2004 8:26:00 PM  From Authorid: 62100    I think that you need to go see the doctor and have a complete physical and maybe some bloodwork done. I am not a nurse "yet" but I graduate in a month..and what you are experiencing sounds to me like its worth getting checked out. Even if it's nothing it's better to be safe than sorry.
Date: 7/23/2004 4:27:00 AM  From Authorid: 58308    I seriously suggest that you go see a specialist if not the ER of a very good hospital (such as a research hosp. where they won't let you leave until they find out the problem) as soon as possible. Given your family history, the sooner you get up there, the better. I hope you get better soon!! *feel better hugs*
Date: 7/23/2004 6:59:00 AM  From Authorid: 47218    oh my, yes-- see a doctor right away! A sudden onset of a headache like this is a symptom of may life-threatening conditions: meningitis, aneurysm...as the others have said, better safe than sorry.
Date: 7/23/2004 9:10:00 AM  From Authorid: 62682    If the pain is so unbearable, I would go to the ER immediatly. I am no nurse, but I am a CNA so I have a little background (not much), but some medical training. As far as the Thyroid thing goes. You need to see your Doctor and have him/her check for a Thyroid Disease. That is very treatable, but with out treatment a Thyroid disease can be very dangerouse. They can do a simple Thyroid test through a blood draw. I would demand this test from your doctor, or if you go to the ER ask for one while you are there. Good luck hon!
