You want to know why. These people are seen as perfect and in an elite club, an elite club that they are unable to become a part of. They show their anger towards cheerleaders because of this. I have an idea why don't you start up a trend and start inviting a geek or a nerd to where you and your friends have lunch. Maybe it might catch on and that club will stop being so elusive.  |

Cheerleaders are kool!!!! The cheerleaders at my skool consists of all kinds of "groups" from preps to goths to normals to even punks!! And they ALL cheer!! its not only preps! >.<  |

Actually, quite the contrary to popular belief, not EVERYONE who doesn't really like cheerleaders are jealous. Take me, for example. If i were to do something against the school policy and/or rules, chances are, even if i was liked by a lot of people, someone would snitch on me and i'd get caught and in trouble. But if you put a cheerleader in my spot, the chances of her (or him) being snitched on will lessen dramatically. Also, cheerleaders (and most jocks, really) get treated like royalty by faculty. They get the perfect grades (even if the event should arise that the desk they sit on has a higher IQ than they do), aided by teachers and other students, while the average student struggles. And honestly, it sucks.  |

Most of it is jealousy, don't let people get you down if you're doing something you enjoy. If people don't like you because you're a cheerleader or are going to stereotype you that's their problem not yours and people like that aren't worth wasting your time on to begin with  |

^^^what that says pretty much raps half of it up.....not to mention most cheerleaders go out with the jocks that i hate plus they think that they higher beings cause they can do a split or a frontflip......yeah i dont really like most cheerleaders some are ok but most i dont care for all that much.  |

I don't think that EVERYONE hates cheerleaders..it's just that some people are jealous really because cheerleaders are fun, hyper, popular and cheery ALL the time, and they get to hang with all the "cool" people (meaning the jocks) that ALL of the other girls want to date- yet the other girls ALL know that that cute jock will be 99.9% likely to date whom?? A cheerleader!!  |

my school doesn't have jocks and when you date a cheerleader you don't know it's a cheerleader. I had no clue who was on the cheerleading team this year. So the cheerleaders are unknown at my school. |

I was a cheerleader in high school. I went to a small school, and for the most part, the cheerleaders were popular. But not all. Some were snobby, some weren't. I never considered myself to be in the popular crowd. I was a cheerleader because I love dancing, but I never really hung out with them outside cheerleadng, except for a few close friends. What I'm trying to say is that while some cheerleaders do fit the stereotype, not all do, some just honestly just want to do the sport. (And it IS a sport!)  |

I don't hate cheerleaders, I even thought about being on, but it was my senior year so I didn't. When I was in school I would watch them practice, they work really hard and they aren't all blond and most of them are very smart, I was friends with some and they did really good in school. It takes more then people think, and they risk there lifes to do some of there lifts. People stereo-type them because they don't understand what they have to do, they think all they do is look pretty but there is so much more to it, lol.  |

I dont hate cheerleaders. a lot of them at my school are nice and some others are snobby. The one thing that i do hate about it though is how at my school if cheerleaders where really short shorts they dont get in trouble and if a person who isnt (at my school shorts have to be fingertip length) they get in school suspension if they dont have any extra clothes to put on. it makes me mad that they get special treatment from like everybody. I mean there no better than anybody else so why should they get special treatment?  |

There's nothing wrong in doing what you enjoy. When I was in high school, I always wanted to play softball and volleyball so I never tried out for cheerleading. Everyone is different, and there will always be someone along the way that doesn't like you, no matter what you do.  |

I think a lot of people stereotype cheerleaders as sports groupies that try to "get with" the male athletes and are cheerleaders to get attention....at least it was like that when I was in school.  |

Just don't get so worked up over those comments. It's not worth it. Personally, I don't see the point in cheerleading...you cheer the team on but does that really increase the team's morale? I never felt it did. Plus, I'm not much for sports...or school pride in general.  |

Alot of people expect cheerleaders to fit a certain stereotype, they are perceived as being almost perfect. Which usually leads others to dislike them... Many are jealous, and feel insignificant. In my opinion, cheerleaders are just flat out missunderstood..  |

I don't hate cheerleaders but if I had a daughter, I'd be happier if she chose debate or some other activity over cheerleading. I wouldn't however, prohibit her from doing it. I just feel that cheerleading often promotes the wrong perceptions of girls.  |

it is as you said the whole stero type around cheerleders. people asume they are going to be snobs and stuff it is like asumeing someone is going to be a stonner because they are poor. cheerleders do not go to my high school so I never really have meet one. well try and kill the stero type by proving your not a snob or somthing at your school those that make asumptions are in face snobs and shallows minded robots them selves.  |

I can't say how it is in all schools, but when I was in school All the cheerleaders except for one were very stuck up and snooty. They acted as if they were better than everyone and same as the jocks, never got into one bit of trouble no matter what rule they broke. Sometimes the stereo-type completely fits, it did then with the set that I attended school with. But, thats not to say that all cheerleaders are total snobs or the like, there are also nice ones out there Im sure. If it doesn't apply to you, I say to just let it roll off your back and don't let it affect you and who you are.  *hugs*  |

I think it is because many people had bad experiences with a cheerleader in school. I never personal had one, but in our town, the cheerleaders were not the nicest people and they tended to act like they were better than others. Social clicks is all. Not all are bad, generalizing any group becuase of the actions of a few is not good.  |

probably a lot of them wish they could do what cheerleaders do! i don't hate them. i hung out with a few in high school and they were nice and a little wild. there was one i didn't like and it wasn't because she was a cheerleader. it was because she was a WITCH! the other cheerleaders didn't like her either! i also think a lot of the attitude about them comes from movies. i've seen bring it on about a million times (my daughter watches a lot!) and there's other movies that make cheerleaders look like snobs.  |
