Glowing and bright
She walked with a smile
Things were going okay
Now she awaits the trial
Her halo high upon her head
She thought she was being a friend
How could she trust sweet words
Now she hurts to no end
The light in her eyes put out
The smile kissed off of her face
Her halo fallen to the grave
She never should have gone to that place
Violated, broken, tear-stained
She’s never felt so unclean
No amount of water will cleanse her soul
She won’t sleep for fear she’ll dream
His fingers on her flesh
Left marks no-one will ever see
Emotional scars so real, so deep
The only one to know how it feels is me
My halo is lost for good
There’s no retrieving it
Now I await justice
For the love I didn’t permit
