COINS IN A WISHING WELL..............................PammieRose

Today an official at the top,
Will issue an order, to go gather the crop.
This time we will pass them on to charity,
Unknown people just like you and me,
silently pass and toss in a coin, hoping to see.
Coins lay in the water and sparkle and gleam,
Each one represents someone's wish or a dream.

Does anyone stop and wonder what story each coin could tell,
at the time they were tossed to the bottom of a well.
One day I decided to watch and see,
A little boy toddled over, He seemed about three.
In his tightly clinched little hand he held a single penny,
his mom picked him up and he made his toss, his words I could see.

He scrunched up his face and closed his eyes and from his mouth,
he whispered, "I wish my daddy would come home to me."
As I continued to watch, a tear fell down his mommy's cheek,
but she brushed it way before he could peek.
Love and happiness...sometimes saddness and pain,
people so happy, some with nothing to gain.

Cast their hopes and dreams into an endless well,
I'll never forget this child at the well.
Does anyone stop and wonder what story each coin could tell?

HUGS...............PammieRose
