Some of you may have read a post I made last week about some problems I was having that had me really stressed out. Well I thought things would be better...they seemed to be getting better anyhow tehn today my husband called me to ask if I had checked our checking account balance. Apparently his employer deducted somewhere around 200 dollars from his check. We know 100 of that is for an extra check they cut him last week for hours he wasnt credited for that pay period. His boss told him that when he gets an extra check it is always deducted the next week but the following week would be added back to his payroll. The otehr 100 something we dont know where it went. Well my first problem is he already was taxed on that money once. Now he is going to be taxed again. Then he already did the work for tehm shouldnt he be owed this money and not have to wait three weeks for them to pay him? I dont understand why they took this money. His boss is no help all he can say is that it is their policy and that he cant help him. Well needless to say we have bills due now and not even close to the amount we need to pay them. So what is your opinion...is there anything at all that can be done legally to make them pay him? This just does not seem fair or legal that they can just take his money as they see fit and pay him whenever they feel like it.

Just in case you were wondering he works for a large auto dealership here in Florida. The people(two brothers I believe) who own it own like five dealerships. Including the ford place he works at, a Dodge dealership, a Jaguar dealership(or Mercedes I am not sure which) and a Kia dealership. SO it isnt like they are poor or anything. The body shop he works at alone grosses somewhere between 250000(in a bad month) to like 750000 in a good month. So why do they feel the need to take money from someone who is living paycheck to paycheck aS it is??

And that is just for the body shop. That is not including parts dept...sales...mechanical. Geez these guys are like multi multi millionaires....it just doesnt seem fair and it is really ticking me off the more I think about it
Date: 7/16/2004 9:14:00 AM  From Authorid: 13119    He should go higher then his boss, ask to talk to the regional manager or whatever it is. Explain the situation and tell them that you need the money, they can put it on a petty cash voucher and when his next pay comes in he just replaces it.
Date: 7/16/2004 9:17:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53900    Magoo he tried that...they just keep telling him he has to wait til next week. But regardless he shouldnt have to replace it...it is his money. He worked for it. And it defenitely doesnt seem fair that he will be taxed on it twice and have to wait three weeks to get it.
Date: 7/16/2004 11:08:00 AM  From Authorid: 58611    He should talk to payroll since they are the ones who actually do the accounting. You might could call a lawyer that deals in workers comp or corporate law since they deal with the ins and outs of businesses. Umm maybe the labor board too. Start checking around and eventually someone will point you in the right direction.
Date: 7/16/2004 12:55:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53900    We called Wage and Labor and as far as I know he spoke to the highest boss he can for that dept. Next person over him would be the owner...cant really talk to him cause he is behind the scenes kinda guy. As for payroll the secretary in charge of that is a total witch...wouldnt surprise me if she didnt do this on purpose
