I work as a cashier at Burger King. Always double count the change and be friendly, even if the person you're helping isn't. - |

It can be fun. I was a cashier at a grocery store in high school, always count the change back to the customer to double check yourself and watch for the new money that likes to cling together! |

it can be stressful... depending on where you are a cashier... sometimes you have to memorize dozens of codes and prices of things and know what buttons do what, you also have to have very good math skills with adding and subtracting for change purposes |

I worked as a cashier at a grocery store when I graduated from high school and during my breaks from college before I started having health problems that prevented me from working. Like any job, it was frustrating at times, but it was OK. The first few days are an adjustment period, like anything new...like getting used to standing on your feet all day, but if you buy a good pair of shoes to support your feet well, that won't be a problem. Also, most registers these days tell you how much change to give back, so that's not a problem either. Plus most people pay with credit, too. Everything is practically done by computer. Granted, you do get your occasional cranky customer, just try your best to smile, and say 'have a nice day'. Your keeping a good mood despite their not having one just might put a smile on their face too! If you have any more questions, feel free to contact me privately, and no matter what, good luck with the new job! |

If you don't mind standing in one place for 6-8 hours a day and if you have the kind of personality that loves chatting with people and can leave your personal problems at home and you don't mind being interupted from straightening or stocking shelves every 5 seconds to run back to your register and think you can direct someone to the exact product he or she wants in 2.5 seconds then it's not hard at all. Oh and you have to REALLY love Christmas to work in retail. *smiles* |

Didn't mean to scare ya. *smiles* On a good note cashiering was the apsolute best job I ever had. When I got to be the boss I was alot more understanding of my cashiers. They are soooo under appreciated. |

Obviously, this must be a first time thing for you. I started out as a cashier and loved it, I was scared too. Don't worry you'll do fine. |

I was never too fond of being a cashier. Sometimes I would get a little frustrated when I got a bad customer but we all have to deal at least one bad customer. It's not that hard at all. Just make sure you keep track of the money well, bag the items nicely (if you do bag), and always Hi and Thank you. |

You never know unless you try I worked at two pharmacies before and I was so nervous at first but afterwards I became very comfortable and it was easy for me. Sometimes customers make things unpleasant but the best thing to do is not to take it personally and do the best you can. I now work in a department store and so far so good but someday I would like to go back to the pharmacy good luck! |

It is not a hard job, no. I worked as a cashier at a grocery store for a while and it was definitely one of the better jobs I've had. You catch on fast. And you can do any job you want if you try hard enough! |
