Remember the day you took me to the store?
Once we got there I even held the door.
I've planned this day since my last birthday,
and I thought I'd finally get my hello kitty shirt today.

To my sadness the lady said they had no more,
of that kitty in pink I so much adore.
She pulled out a shirt with scooby doo,
and another of sweet winnie the pooh.

It's not your fault mommy, I know you didn't mean to disappoint me,
it's just the way things seem to be.
I'll take the white one with blues clues,
because either way I had to choose.

Thank you mommy for this shirt,
have this lolli, I'll wipe off the dirt.
It's been in my room since last week,
it's the color of my pink cheek.
I would give you more if I could,
only if I had a job, then I surely would.

Thank you mommy for everything,
you surely deserve a handsome king,
even though the hello kitty shirt wasn't there,
it's not your fault it was fairly rare.
I appreciate everything you do,
mommy just know I still love you.
