Date: 7/14/2004 8:24:00 PM From Authorid: 61977 I personally loved the book..the old movie was not that good to me. Even The Stand made as a movie was pretty good it did not do the book justice. Yet rarely do I find a movie equal to the book. Nicholas Sparks's books have been put into 3 films which two I have seen...did his book well yet I find that it does not happen too often. Movie makers are after the money, especially when they re-make movies that already have been made. There is my two cents on this subject. HUGS & BLESSINGS, |
Date: 7/14/2004 8:35:00 PM From Authorid: 62728 I think it depends on the movie and the director and cast found for the remake. Some people obviously thing an original classic shouldn't be tampered with, others disagree. I thought Kubrick's version of The Shining was just horrible, but really liked the ABC mini-series with Rebecca DeMornay much better. I think Texas Chainsaw Massacre did a good job and introduced the film to a new generation who can now go back and see the original as well. I have heard rumblings that they are going to remake Halloween like they did TCM. Not sure that would work too well, although I would love to see them actually take the time and remake another quality version of Carrie. I think the retelling from Beverly's perspective could be interesting since they left out so much story because of having to get it all condensed into a movie. Tim Curry was PHENOMENAL as Pennywise though. I don't think that performance can be surpassed. -DeltaRebel |

I agree with you....why fix something that isn't broke.... is this going to be a direct to video release or a movie on the big screen??? |
Date: 7/14/2004 8:54:00 PM From Authorid: 53157 I dont think this should be remade. It is good the way it is. Look at some other movies they have remade, a lot of the old ones were 10 times better. |
Date: 7/14/2004 9:09:00 PM From Authorid: 62728 I think a lot of it depends on the reasons for remaking the movie. If it's because there is something new to tell or a new way to tell it, then that can be great. If it's simply to redo it, well we saw what happened to Psycho even though it was an attempt at an homage. If it's to retell it in some new vision, then it can introduce the original to a new generation through the new story. It is tough to do though, and you have to have the right director and cast or it will be miserable. -DeltaRebel |
