I was searching on the Urban Lengends website when I found this one about this one scene in The Wizard of Oz where you could could see someone hanging from a tree in the background. It is a very popular rumor but it wasn't true. The "Hanging Person In The Background" was actually a film crew person who was accidentally in the shot and ran off the set. It never got cut out. LOL Talk about bloopers :p Has anybody happen to see this??? I'm curious lol

Date: 7/14/2004 9:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 17081    They also say that if you start Pink Floyd's DARK SIDE OF THE MOON at the same time you start the movie, it will go together.
Date: 7/15/2004 10:04:00 AM  From Authorid: 62176    I've heard that if you toss several hammers and knives and the T.V. while watching "The Wizard of Oz" the movie won't play.
Date: 7/16/2004 4:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 62808    Hahaha ya but I know exactally what it really is... The set had a lot of animals and birds on it and it was a stork flapping its wings! Scary to think of it being a hang man though!
Date: 7/16/2004 4:43:00 PM  From Authorid: 62808    Oh and I am sure if you toss hammers and knives at the t.v., the movie wont play, the t.v. would probalble be broken! lol but maybe ill try it.
Date: 7/19/2004 9:54:00 PM  From Authorid: 62275    My sister learned about this in her speech class in high school. If you look at the video that first came out compared to the newer releases of it you can see a major difference in what it looks like. In the original you can see something clearly swing back and forth (at the part after she found the Tin Man and they're on their way down the golden brick road.) They claim it to be a bird that was intended for a different set, which the current releases make it out to be. So, if you want to see what it really looks like, try to get your hands on one of the first releases of the movie. (I think from the 60's. It looks absolutely nothing like a bird.) We rented it from our local video store, and compared it. Theres definately a difference in the 2.
Date: 8/24/2004 1:58:00 PM  From Authorid: 29262    If you look close enough at the screen, You can see it is a bird. Someone is not gonna swing down from a tree to get off set LOL!
Date: 9/26/2004 10:54:00 AM  From Authorid: 47618    We saw a Laser Disc version of one of the older releases of the film...and on a large screen it is very obvious that it is nothing more than a bird.
Date: 10/19/2004 7:41:00 AM  From Authorid: 62693    I heard about it but I never saw it.
Date: 4/15/2005 2:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 13979    yea i heard of it... not true =P -Diana aka
Date: 7/1/2007 4:56:00 PM  From Authorid: 64501    i heard of this, it's a bird or lighting effect.
