True Shape

Let go the deformed birds of fear to fly
and cast unearthly shadow upon the sky.
Sky, that reign so vast for such a tiny eye
beset with beak too big for head too small.

Wingspans gaudy and monstrous from terror
minute ribs encase this heart speck bearer
The birds are abused and abuse their brothers.
the cage is too small and teems with its own concentration.
their world is definite, worn, and relentless,
a four walled cage with a strong unrusted ceiling.

Their holding hell is guarded by a rusty lock
so fade away the cage in which they flock
Set the birds of fear free to know the sky
and see them remember their true shape.
