Have you ever had to call 911?*DizzyME*

Have you ever had to call 911? I know this is an odd question, but I was thinking about this earlier, and I thought I'd ask. I have called one time that I can think of, not for an emergency, but because I heard gunshots right next to my house at one in the morning, and I made the call "just in case" someone was in trouble.

What about you?

My dad soon pryed it outta his hand n slid it to my feet. thats when I grabbed my cell n called the cops on him. They made their way through the whole house. Starting at the kitchen and ending IN MY BEDROOM!! It was a WAR zone when the cops pulled him outta there n sat him down in hand cuffs in the front room. It was he best thing I coulda done!! I wish I woulda called earlier tho...by the time they got there, the fighting was over.

Date: 6/24/2004 9:41:00 PM  From Authorid: 35178    Yes. Well kinda. I use to work at a video store and late one night right before we were going to close we had a customer come in to warn us that a van just parked in the back of our building and the driver wasnt acting normal. seconds later an old looking man came in the door and proceeded to try to talk to me through the glass window of our lobby. He didnt seem to understand that we couldnt hear him. he just kept talking. we thought he was crazy. my manager flipped and I had to tell her to call the cops. he finally staggered out the door. later we found out that he had just gotten off from some type of medical treatment and shouldnt have been out and about because of it. it was strange.
Date: 6/24/2004 10:04:00 PM  From Authorid: 13546    I made a call 2 years ago, I was in my room which is in the basement, by myself, my dog suddenly came bolting downstairs and cowered in my room.. and she doesn't normally do that. And then I heard loud bangs coming from upstairs, like someone was in the house, or trying to get into the house.. I saw two sets of feet run past my window and freaked.. called 911.. and when the cops came they checked around and found nothing.. but it was SO scary at the time.. yup.
Date: 6/24/2004 10:19:00 PM  From Authorid: 12216    my best friend called 911 cuz she was on her way home from her boyfriends house at night and she suerved to avoid what she thought was a tree branch from her distance but when she got closer she realized it was a body. guy had passed out on the road, walking home, he was drunk.
Date: 6/24/2004 10:34:00 PM  From Authorid: 49739    I had to call 911 a couple of years ago. I was babysitting my 4 cousins for my aunt and uncle. The oldest (who was 9 at the time) I had to pick up from school because he wasn't feeling good. So I got him home and got him settled in. My grandpa came over when I got back to see how he was doing. He was running a low grade fever, so I went upstairs to get some children's tylenol. I gave it to him. Not before I made it to the stairs did my cousin start throwing up and the tylenol and he went into a full-force seizure. I've never dealt with the seizures by myself before. So I called 911 for help and I called my aunt to get her to come home. 4 of my cousins have fever-induced seizures (when their fever reaches a certain temperature, it throws them into a seizure). The parametics and my aunt showed up at the same time. The parametics ended up taking my cousion to the hospital where he spent 3 days there. He had more seizures for the rest of the day unitl they got his fever. He spent the next couple of days in the hospital as a precautinary thing, to make sure he was ok before they sent him home. Since then, my cousin hasn't had a zeizure yet.
Date: 6/24/2004 10:36:00 PM  From Authorid: 6867    Yes. Some spaz overdosed on sleeping pills in my house. Thank God they were over the counter.
Date: 6/24/2004 11:28:00 PM  From Authorid: 62422    i have called many times for many reasions and i always get served too late.cyndi.
Date: 6/24/2004 11:32:00 PM  From Authorid: 53558    No. The emergency number here in the UK is: 999...
Date: 6/24/2004 11:39:00 PM  From Authorid: 59876    a couple of times. when my mom had her second heart attack last october, and the year before that i had woke at 4 a.m. and saw only smoke out the dining room window. some fool was setting cars on fire the next block over. oh, and the house the next block over was on fire too later that year but the fire department is only one block over and they were already on it. when my best friend died, a ranger called me because i was her emergency information in her wallet. i thought someone was playing a cruel joke. sadly not. this is a teeny tiny town here and the fire department and paramedics are extremely efficient. i like that.
Date: 6/25/2004 12:07:00 AM  From Authorid: 18887    yeah, my dad fell off the ladder, and hit something hard, he thought he broke his back, so he told me to call.
Date: 6/25/2004 12:36:00 AM  From Authorid: 11348    I haven't yet but I've been present with people who have.
Date: 6/25/2004 1:18:00 AM  From Authorid: 57232    Oh have I called 911 ! Yep, twice. It was just for an auto accident, but the other one is so funny and actually if you look back in my stories (I'm about to go to bed, my laziness is saying hurry up and type this and then go to sleep already you idiot). I was in a class called Social Psychological Aspects of Clothing and one of our assignments was to dress up as old people, go to the Town Fair and then write a paper about how we were treated. Well we come back and we are still dressed like old people, we hadn't took off our make up yet (I'm wondering if I'm even remembering this right, we might of gone to the fair after it happened??) Well anyways we come back if that's the way it happened and one of our neighbors told us that our car was on fire...and it was! The firemen had to come, police, whole nine yards and there's me and my boyfriend dressed like old people, the cops probably thought that we were drinking! R.I.P. Mike's Chevy Malibu from the 80's
Date: 6/25/2004 2:04:00 AM  From Authorid: 28190    Yes Twice... Once when we were coming home from Karaoke a few years ago, going our normal route, we saw a house on the corner street on fire.. Thankfully there wasnt anyone there at the time, but it scared us to think that there were. And the second time an idiot was in the middle of the road in front of our house, he was drunk and waving around a gun. We could hear the cop cars tires squealing from the main road to get to our road, and the man was arrested very quickly. That part was very interesting to watch.
Date: 6/25/2004 2:25:00 AM  From Authorid: 47296    I have had to call numerous times. A couple of calls were for attempted breaking and entering, several calls when I was working as a club manager, and several times reporting accidents where I was first on the scene.
Date: 6/25/2004 3:05:00 AM  From Authorid: 30747    Several times before my dad passed away. I had to call because he was having problems and once I accidentally called. I was dialing someone on my work phone and for some reason got 911 instead. I apologized and explained the mistake but they sent a police officer over anyway just in case I was in trouble and he kind of checked out the place even though I explained I was an idiot. That was a big embarrassement.
Date: 6/25/2004 4:09:00 AM  From Authorid: 62732    On my neighbors once, they were fighting in there front yard and I seen the guy smack his wife upside the head, couple times for accidents and once to report a housefire down the road from me.
Date: 6/25/2004 5:32:00 AM  From Authorid: 38406    Nope, I never had to make the call. And I hope I never have too! LOL! Thanks for posting!
Date: 6/25/2004 6:04:00 AM  From Authorid: 62675    I had to call when I was about 12 or 13. My dad takes a lot of pills (about 10 or so) at one time. Well he went to swallow his handful of pills and started choking!! His girlfreind was trying to help him and I freaked out and called 911 even thought they told me not to. He got his airway clear and told the operator he didn't need help. I don't think he takes his pills in one swallow anymore!! -Sunni
Date: 6/25/2004 8:34:00 AM  From Authorid: 16845    Dad saw a car go off in to a ravine on one of his camping trips...had to call then. My neighbor/friend was alone with a friend at night called us at like 4am cause someone was breaking into the house. (Cops never found anything though) THEN last month about two days before the wedding my cousins, Danny and myself were playing drinking games (Had just started)...my mom aunt and uncle were around too and it sounded like there was a party going on at the houses behind ours...but then it was obvious it was a fight...and it got nasty...someone hit a pregnant woman and she was on the ground...which just made their fight that much worse....so some of them grabbed her and threw her in a car. So yep called then too (Ok so I didn't actually call any of those times but still..)
Date: 6/25/2004 10:30:00 AM  From Authorid: 39258    once for an auto accident
Date: 6/25/2004 11:34:00 AM  From Authorid: 62704    I called once because I was in labor and home by my self with contractions every two minutes that woke me up from my sleep.
Date: 6/25/2004 12:10:00 PM  From Authorid: 35160    i called last month. i was at work, and a lady was being chased and beaten at the house across the street. also when i was a teenager, my aunts house caught fire, and after i got everyone out of the house i went next door to call 911.
Date: 6/25/2004 9:56:00 PM  From Authorid: 27046    I lived in the city for 5 years and I couldn't even begin to count the number of times I have called 911.
