What Is Love?

A young girl and her mother
Was in the kitchen one day
“Mom? What is love?” the young girl asked
The mom didn’t know what to say

“Well all I know” the mother said
“It’s a special feeling you get to someone you know
Someone who takes your hand
And never let it go

They are always there for you
When you need them the most
You can’t seem to live without them
You always want them close

You get butterflies in your stomach
You can hardly speak
When they stand by close
You start to grow weak

When you talk to the person
Everything seems to be alright
You like the same things
And don’t start a fight

You think about them all the time
They are always in your dreams
You can’t get them out of your head
They are always stuck in there it seems

When they smile at you
You get this feeling inside
A tingling feeling
From your toes to your mind

When they give you a hug
Or the touch of the hand
When they say sweet words
Making you feel like a million grand

And for some people
Love doesn’t happen at all
For some are to self centered
There love seems to fall


These peoples love
Are like an empty tomb
Making other people
Starting to feel gloom

But other peoples love
Are big and bright
Their love could fill a room
With beauty and light

Be careful though
On who you shall love
There are some bad effects
Where you will run across of

They could say they love you
And say they can make things right
But sometimes they dump you
Or beat you during a fight

So be careful my dear
I don’t want you to get hurt
When you think you’re in love
Always be alert”

The girl thought for a moment
Then stared at the floor
Thinking about what her mom said
Wanting to hear more

Then she looked up
Then a smile started to appear
“I think I’m in love mommy” she said
“Who do you love my dear?”

She gave her mom a hug
With an “I love you”
Her mom’s eyes started to fill with tears
And then said “I love you too”
