It was September 18, 1999 I was on my way to the street fair in town to meet up with my friends. I was 15 years old and just started 10th grade the week before. We had been going to the street fair since forever. It was in town just across the highway about 3 blocks from my house. My friend at the time Kiera met me at my house to head in to town to meet up with my friends Cheryl and Christina. We headed into town for an amazing day. We were going to have fun wandering around the venders and seeing what we wanted to buy.
As we walked into town we crossed the highway like normal and then headed down the road into town. It was a beautiful sunny day. One of those days where you know exactly what you were thinking, exactly what you were wearing. I was wearing a white tank top with a sweatshirt tied around my waste and a pair of bluejeans.
We met up in town with everyone and wandered around. The first and only vendor I remember from that day was a jewelry vendor where I got a necklace. The necklace was of a snake wrapped around a sword. I loved snakes and it caught my eye right away so I brought it. We continued to wander around, hanging out and joking around. We met up with some more friends, and I decided I wanted to head to my house to get my camera to take pictures like always. At first no one wanted to come with me, then Kiera agreed to come. So we left Cheryl, Christina, and another friend John in town to head to my house.
It seemed like the longest walk back. Kiera and I talked about things, and strangely enough talked about car accidents and getting hit by cars(I had been hit by the sideview mirror of a car in the Bronx when I was like 5 years old, nothing serious).
Finally we reached the highway and prepared to cross. I remember still having a weird feeling that something wasn't right. At the time I wasn't sure what. But I now I know. Now I know.
