I think one reason it upsets them is because they can't express themselves as much as they'd like to. I agree with the reasons you give. I'll be going to a beauty school in a few months and I'll have to be in uniform every day. I like the idea because it makes the school look professional and I also don't have to fight in the morning of what I should wear. |

I still can't decide if school uniforms is a good or bad idea. It'd be good to wear them so that no one would make fun of each other and that they'll all be alike, kinda but the kids wouldn't be expressing themselves with how they dress. It would make the school look a bit more professional but I think it'd be pretty dull and boring looking. |

I do understand how it would help some kids not sagging their pants so low and wearing tight clothing, that's one thing I hate seeing. My supervisor at work always sags his pants to wear his boxers are always showring and that just grosses me out. So yea, I see the good and bad with school uniforms...lol |

as far as expression goes... uniforms actually produce more creativity, from what I've seen. I was always amazed at how different the same outfit could look. |

my school has a "uniform" and as far as money goes, popular "rich" kids will always stand out |

I don't have a problem with it, becasue I went to a privater school all my life... but this past school year one of the public schools in my area instituted uiforms and one student protestsed by not wearing his at all. I think he got suspended for it. Shows how much power us kids have. - MC Bacon |

Hardly any schools in the UK DON'T have a school uniform. All kids accept the fact that you have to wear it, the posh kids do still wear better clothes and kids do still get beaten up, either for wearing the uniform in a certain way, or for not having the expensive accessories to go with the basic uniform. As for "freedom of expression" it has its place, in the field of work and education is not one of them. Kids go to school to learn, not to start legging themselves up the social ladder |

Kids can be so prissy... sheesh! I went to private schools growing up and we wore uniforms. It didn't kill anyone either. |

i think it's a great way to get kids respecting clothing and wear it properly instead of hanging out of peices of string and falling off thier body.. it also as you said does equalize...the arguement against it is always "it takes away our freedom of expression" well i always say there are 100's of other ways to express yoruself other then clothing |

I can decide wether they are good or not,I mean, yes the bullies cant tease you for your clothing, and if you cant afford alot its better, when my mom was in elementary, for a few years her family went through a really rough time, she only had 3 dresses and was teased about it. But then again, bullies will just find something else to tease you about. The only problem I would have with uniforms is the comfort, I just like to wear my comfortable jeans and t-shirts(and sometimes tank tops) and most uniforms don't let you wear earrings and piercings, and I like my many piercings very much thank you lol. My school doesn't wear uniforms, doesn't even have a really strick dress code, I dont mind it, no one at my school wears too out there clothing, and its nice being able to wear what you want while you can. |

When I was in school I said NO WAY!! Now that I am out and a parent I think it is a good Idea! My son is 5 going on 6 and he already picks the most expensive clothes because that is what others are wearing and he wants to have friends. I mean 60 bucks for a pair of shorts and a tee shirt!! I mean they were cool looking and all but a bit ridiculious! -Sunni818 |

Well i have always had a school uniform...i think that it is a good idea, and a bad idea, people however are always going to wear what they like...at our school we had a dress code...blue pants (dark blue jeans etc.) and a white top, whether the schools or not....it still allowed the kids to express themselves as they could wear whatever kind of pants they wanted as long as they were navy blue...and as for the top...well as long as it was white and not see through they got away with it...*hugz* take care! |
