A mean cruel trick to play on animals just to test and see..................B. Monkey

OH this is mean, but I've done it with about every pet I've ever owned just to see what would my dog do? What you do is pretend that you fall down and then lay there and see what your animal does. I remember when I did it to my dog Dolly (she has since passed) she was the most concerned of any of my dogs, she had immediately ran to me and sniffed around me and then she ran around the yard barking and was throwing herself up against the house to get my mom's attention all the while barking and running back and forth to check on me. It was a mean thing to do and when I got up I pretended as if I passed out or something, I felt guilty for playing that trick on her.

I did it to George not to long ago, but he was mostly mean, serves me right. He licked all around my face and bit my hair, like bit it lots of times, I think he was trying to wake me up. Has anyone else ever tried this, I know it's cruel

Date: 6/4/2004 3:45:00 PM  From Authorid: 3688    Not as a trick but I'll tripped and gotten hurt a few times and my dog kinda does a combo of your two. She'd lick and bark and she actually stood still so I could lift myself back up using her as leverage
Date: 6/4/2004 3:47:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57232    I remembered your dog's name!
Date: 6/4/2004 3:47:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57232    I think they know if we treat them right and love them they will do the same. My mom actually did fall down for real and she had said George let her use him for support too. Good Eclipse!
Date: 6/4/2004 3:50:00 PM  From Authorid: 3688    Yes you did hehe... She's amazing. I've also had a few seizures (usually as I'm laying in bed trying to calm down after a stressful day) and she'll lick my face and whimper til I come out of it...animals are truly amazing.
Date: 6/4/2004 4:04:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57232    Animals can sense things like when we are talking about them I guess, George just indicated that he had to use the bathroom and I took him out!
Date: 6/4/2004 4:05:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57232    I'm glad that Eclipse can see you through it, I'm sorry that you have to go through that.
Date: 6/4/2004 4:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 3688    It's my own fault...I've known for awhile now that I can't allow myself to get too stressed or my body makes me pay....I don't ever learn lol
Date: 6/4/2004 4:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 3688    lol silly George lol
Date: 6/4/2004 4:07:00 PM  From Authorid: 3688    oops comment swap lol
Date: 6/4/2004 4:17:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57232    Same thing happens with me, it happened not this past Mother's Day but the one before, I don't get seizures, but I got MS related half side of my body went numb. I've been doing fine for awhile though (knock knock) wood there!
Date: 6/4/2004 4:18:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57232    and I really do think that having animals around makes me feel a lot better, I dont' have one at college so I got and visit the animal shelter every Friday while there and interact mostly with the dogs, but get to see them they do a lot for me and I hope I can do a lot for them.
Date: 6/4/2004 4:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 36537    LOL!
Date: 6/4/2004 4:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 3688    Oh I'm sure you do.....I gotta mention my Calypso kitty too...shes' just adorable... If I'm crying she'll come to where I'm laying and rub her face against mine to dry the tears it's SOOOOO cute lol
Date: 6/4/2004 4:22:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57232    I don't know why, but I don't get along to well with cats, even when I go to visit the animal shelter I'm there for an hour, but only see the cats for about 10 minutes, we just don't get along too well. But I've seen that cat picture and Calypso seems like a cool kitty!
Date: 6/4/2004 4:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 3688    she's the most loving kitty I've EVER seen in my life and I'm definitely more of a dog person lol
Date: 6/4/2004 4:28:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57232    I've actually told this USM member about her, but I met this cat once named Bageera and that cat was just something else, I actually wanted to adopt him, I put her b/c the USM Bageera is a girl, but I couldn't aford him, he was more expensive because he had health problems and had to have his care maintained. He was the coolest guy I had met in awhile, I usually don't hit it off with cats.
Date: 6/4/2004 4:35:00 PM  From Authorid: 1065    No, I havent ever tried that with any of my pets...u think it will work with a parrot?
Date: 6/4/2004 4:40:00 PM  From Authorid: 22992    I dont think its that mean at all...
Date: 6/4/2004 4:45:00 PM  From Authorid: 49976    LOL I do that to my doggie a lot just playing with her and she comes and licks my face and nudges me with her lil cold nose. My grandma had a hurt back and she was in bed and couldn't get up she called for my doggie and told her to go get my grandpa and she went and woke him up an brought him to my grandma..shes such a smart lil girl.:~P

Date: 6/4/2004 4:49:00 PM  From Authorid: 62367    Its a bit odd maybe, but I wouldn't call it cruel. My kitties are very responsive to my moods though. I've got a cat that growls whenever a man approaches my door. He thinks he is guarding me. LOL.
Date: 6/4/2004 5:41:00 PM  From Authorid: 60992    lmao.. Sorry but it's not cruel.. Sugar is smart he would see right through it. He would just lye down on the ground and act like I annoyed him.. Although tho he is also responsive to my moods. If me and my mom ahve a huge huge fight. He's on my side always come into my room and sleeps with me.. Or if I'm crying he comes and gives me lovies.. love him.. love my sugar!
Date: 6/4/2004 5:50:00 PM  From Authorid: 28193    I've never done that, but I've tried to act like I was asleep around my cats, and it just doesn't work!
Date: 6/4/2004 5:59:00 PM  From Authorid: 62100    LOL- yes, cruel but I think we've all done things like that. When my daughter was a little younger ( like 8 or so) I used to lay there and try not to move just to see how she'd rect..but I could never keep it up. She would say "I know you're playing Mommy, stop it" and then she'd get a little tremor in her voice and I'd have to end the "joke"- not very mature I know, but I was kinda like that a few years back.
Date: 6/4/2004 8:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 48812    Really, i'm more of a cat person, but whenever something is up with me, whatever might be wrong or whatever, one of my cats (i have 3 3/4, but 2 are truly 'mine') will come up and start crawlin' all over me, it's cute ^.^ I've never had any help where dogs were concerned, though. I was walking in the woods with my neighbor's dog one time (she kinda tagged along), and i tripped, got a stick in my foot, and she went off to chase a rabbit. That kinda sucked, lol. I was a quarter of a mile away from my house, too. Oh, well. Can't have everything we want ^.^
Date: 6/4/2004 8:46:00 PM  From Authorid: 57452    I'm not a dog person.
I am a cat person. When my cat was alive, she knew all of my senses & she absolutely hated it when I cried. Animals are amazing.

Date: 6/4/2004 11:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 62552    Sort of... I've had my dog Cassie since I was two and she's the cutest thing... once I finised an argument with my father and just sat in the corner, hugged my knees, and cried and cried... Cassie then came in, pawed my knee and whinged, trying to get onto my lap, then stayed with me until I calmed down... she does that with a lot of things... but if I'm lying on the ground the cats will sit on me and the other two dogs will run down the hallway aiming for me, then crash into my side and jump over me, then do it again.
Date: 6/4/2004 11:43:00 PM  From Authorid: 48250    no I've never done that with any of my German shepherds, but Sam would come check on me and check to see if I was breathing>>>LOL I talked to a KSP Officer About it who I suppose trains Shepherds for Police duty and this is what he told me Sam was doing, he was being Protective of me..It sounds like You have a Great dog, B Monkey,, All of my dogs were GS's..I love German Shepherds, they are Loyal, Protective and Beautiful animals...T/C
Date: 6/5/2004 6:36:00 AM  From Authorid: 62633    Great topic, Uhh the only cruel thing I do to pets is to get the ol' laser pointer out and watch them run all about trying to capture that mysterious red moving dot. (LOL) ~Your Huckleberry~
Date: 6/5/2004 7:40:00 AM  From Authorid: 44321    When we had the dog,if I even dared lay on the floor to watch tv, he would slap his paw in my face, roll on my head and then try to sit on my hair..so I never would try to see if he would "help " me LOL
Date: 6/5/2004 7:48:00 AM  From Authorid: 44321    One of the dogs I had growing up loved me,I called him my furry brother (hee hee),he used to wake me up in the morning for school,my grandmom would tell him "ok get her up" and he would rush up to my room, and since he was not allowed on the bed he would run his front paws up and down the length of my bed trying to lick whatever was hanging out of the blanket to wake me up, his tippy tappy toenails on my bed frame always made me laugh( he never took weekends off either) LOL
Date: 6/5/2004 10:42:00 AM  From Authorid: 58334    I do this too, LOL. All I got was a face full of slober from being licked and chewed on.
Date: 6/6/2004 11:17:00 PM  From Authorid: 18516    I've done it before, my dogs didn't do anything except lick me. I think they'd just leave me for dead. LOL My mom pretends to 'pop' me on my arm and my dog cody will come over and bark and growl at her. Maybe one day she'll learn her lesson and he'll bite her. HAHA
Date: 6/7/2004 5:50:00 AM  From Authorid: 62624    Yeah, I've done it on my floor and my dogs just come and lick me. My pup wil come and start chewing on an ear or something. Kimberley
Date: 6/10/2004 12:21:00 AM  From Authorid: 42568    I just did so after reading your post. My dog gave me a look like I was insane and went back to sleep. I even acted it out like I was dying and everything. I guess she's just used to me being weird. I don't consider it mean! I was thinking you were going to say you dressed your dogs up... then I would consider that mean.
