Date: 6/4/2004 2:19:00 PM From Authorid: 62506 Dude I feel for ya...You might want to take the fan outside and sit on the front porch with a glass of iced tea. It's about all that will help.If you have a breeze, you could open the windows on either end of the house to pull in a draft. Also try putting a box fan in the window.Dude...Im running out of ideas...I hope one of these helps. |
Date: 6/4/2004 2:20:00 PM From Authorid: 53052 water and a fan! |
Date: 6/4/2004 2:21:00 PM From Authorid: 23075 I keep my blinds and windows closed in the house as long as the sun is beating in...once the sun moves and then shade starts coming around my house then I usuallyopen the windows andblinds slowly....but then we have central airconditioning...... |
Date: 6/4/2004 2:22:00 PM From Authorid: 49101 Once oyu have opened the doors and windows use a fan. If you have a box fan or a oscilating fan, GREAT. Here is the trick. Place a bowl of ice (Preferably a Metal Bowl) in the direct path of the air coming from the fan, it sends a cool breeze right to you. I live out in the country in Florida, and our AC has been broken. We have a pool in the back yard, but the water is WARM. YUCKY! lol |
Date: 6/4/2004 2:29:00 PM From Authorid: 28193 I feel for you too..my air wasn't working right. The repair man came out, and there's a leak somewhere. Do you have a basement? That's what saved us, until some more Freon was put in. We used fans in the basement. |

If it's the day, I just wash my hair, and so its cooler, or have a water fight, or take a shower or two so when I go out I feel colder. Or....POPSICLES! I also melt ice on my skin. Oh yeah lol. |

Date: 6/4/2004 7:04:00 PM From Authorid: 52489 Relax on the floor of your garage--it's always cold! Basements and wine cellars are good, too. Hang out in shopping malls! |

When I had no AC or electicity at all for that matter, in the middle of New Orleans summer heat. (my little apartment a few years back) I used cold water as cold as I could get it. Since you have electricty...ice cubes are a great substitute wrapped in clothe or a water pad. |
Date: 6/5/2004 12:18:00 AM From Authorid: 26452 I work at a pizza place, its a tiny area with a huge hot pizza oven, what we do when it gets hot is, we have these things, they're long strips of cloth that hold water, we soak them in water, then put them in one of our coolers, when it gets cold we wrap one around our necks, ohh my, very very nice lol. |
Date: 6/5/2004 12:26:00 AM From Authorid: 11348 In my town, houses generally don't come equipped with air conditioning at all, and there isn't an apartment anywhere that has it. It's because it's cold and snowing the majority of the year, but june, july and August can still get up into the 90s occasionally, and I've learned a few tricks to cope with heat. Firt of all, if it's not tooo hot outside, window fans are a Godsend, blowing the outside air in. If it's hotter out than in, that doesn't help too much. A cold shower is another quick fix. You can eat ice cream or popsicles which will cool your body down considerably. Put water on your face and stick it in front of the fan. Keep the sun out starting early in the morning and the windows open at night if it's any cooler then. Cold wash cloths are good on your face and the back of your neck. Heat rises also, so if you stay on the lowest level of your house that helps too. |
Date: 6/5/2004 5:16:00 AM From Authorid: 54987 Don't use cold water, use hot. When faced with heat, the body will cool down and vice versa. We shouldn't rely on A/C as we're weakening ourselves. If and when civilization is threatened (as it cataclysmic event) we will have to survive without A/C and a lot of other things we take for granted... like electricity. |
