A Computer Question ~Satori Crush

I have a question. Sometimes my computer will fill in blanks on websites. All I have to do is "type" the first letter or two and it will show me a group of options that I can select.

I typed in a few "wrong" user names and now they keep coming up. For example, My one user name should be "rock-star-71". When I start to type that in-- I get a list of 6 incorrect ones like "rockstar71", or "rock star 71"

The correct one is buried in the drop down list. I was wondering if there was a way to edit these---and delete the wrong ones so that only the correct ones come up.

Date: 6/4/2004 6:27:00 AM  From Authorid: 46530    This is called the auto complete feature, and those extra links will disappear after a few days, it may be up to two weeks. You can turn the feature off (go to help for how to do this) but it is helpful, so I would just wait
Date: 6/4/2004 6:34:00 AM  From Authorid: 49763    you have the auto complete option on. To fix this on the tool bar up there ^ click the tools menu and open internet options. (If your browser does not allow you to do this open you start menu, opent the control panel and open Internet Options from there). Once open click on the content tab (fourth over from the left) in the bottom box is the auto complete button, Click it. In here are the options for what you want the browser to auto complete as well as the options to clear the stored forms and passwords. MSG me if I was not clear enough on any of the steps or if you have any question. Also let me know if this worked for you. ~~
Date: 6/4/2004 8:20:00 AM  From Authorid: 62745    You need to "Delete Cookies" on your computer. You can do this in several ways. Go to start menu if you have Windows, Click on Control Panel, then Internet Setting, then Delete Cookies & Delete Files.********* Computer cookies is the memory track of your computer. More specifically, cookies log (remember) where you have been, or in your case, what you have typed. Sometimes other progarms have there own "Cookies" like AOL. Never-the-less, deleting of cookies gets rid of mistakes (as in your case ), and also speeds up your computer, by freeing up unneeded memory bites. Give it a try. I think that will solve your problem.
Date: 6/4/2004 8:25:00 AM  From Authorid: 62675    I have done all of this and it doesn't always work. I think when you see the list if you highlight the one you don't want and hit delete it will go away. -Sunni818
Date: 6/4/2004 2:09:00 PM  From Authorid: 62383    Go to "tools" and "internet options" on that menu. Then clear your history and click delete files button under temp internet files on that box, then check delete all offline content box when u delete it. That will clean your computer up a bit.
