Here are the replies off your other post since you double posted Date: 6/3/2004 10:02:00 AM From Authorid: 36967 depending on the Spider, you should be ok, and your baby should be fine too. Unless it is a black widow or brown recluse, otherwise, you should be ok. If you have a sickness, even if you just think it could be because of the spider, I would see a doctor. Most cases they can help out on spider bites. Date: 6/3/2004 10:02:00 AM From Authorid: 36967 depending on the Spider, you should be ok, and your baby should be fine too. Date: 6/3/2004 10:15:00 AM From Authorid: 62624 I'd be a little leary about taking Claratin. I know...doctor's know best, but I would call a pharmacy or another doctor's office and ask. Just to be sure. Kimberley |

They gave you Vicadin plus all those decongestants while you're pregnant? Will be interesting to see what kind of epidural you get should you choose not to go with natural childbirth. ( Even though health issues prevent me from working, have my medical assistant degree, and took a brief pharmacology course). I doubt it was anything but your simple spider, else the reactions would have been different. Too bad you didn't get a body for 'evidence' though. But with the mark you described, it sounds like your basic spider bite, just that you, you poor thing, are allergic to them. Did you start taking anything else new at that same time? With everything else that doc had you on, you could have had an allergic reaction to that, to. I'm no doctor, but I'd have given you the ice pack for the swelling, made up a simple paste with meat tenderizer, baking soda and water for the itch, done a blood test to check for infection as a precaution, and maybe benadryl cream or something. Oh well. Hope you're feeling better soon. Take care, I'll be praying for you. |

Date: 6/3/2004 4:29:00 PM From Authorid: 53900 I had to take pain pills while I was pregnant with my son but that was more towards the end and because my doctor would not let me go into labor because he felt my sons lungs were not developed enough but he was huge and causing such severe pain I was doubled over in pain all the time for teh last two or three months(he was 11 pounds and 24 3/4 inches at birth)...Under a doctors supervision and with limited use it is possible to have strong pain meds if necasary. As for your baby I am sure he/she will be fine. I will keep you and the baby in my thoughts. By the way sensitivity to any kind of insect/spider bite during pregnancy is supposed to be common. I used to swell up when I would just get bit buy a mosquito...I got bit by a deer fly once on my leg when I was pregnant and I swelled up so bad I could not walk...it was about teh size of a tennis ball on teh back of my leg and it hurt soooo bad |
Date: 6/3/2004 5:45:00 PM From Authorid: 8278 i was thinking the same thing...VICADIN while PREGNANT?! on top of everything else they have you taking? that sounds a little much to me. i think unless it is a poisonous spider, you should be fine. but i would be a little leary of taking all those meds while pregnant. best of luck to you and you will be in my thoughts and prayers |
Date: 6/3/2004 5:53:00 PM From Authorid: 62104 Oh my goodness, I am so sorry Meagan. That sounds like quite an ordeal. I'm sure if they were concerned about the baby then they wouldn't have waited so long to give you an ultrasound. I am surprised though that they didn't take you straight into emergency at the hospital though to monitor you more closely. Did they find out what kind of spider bit you? What state do you live in?, cause that might help you figure out what kind of harmful spiders live in your area. God bless. |

Date: 6/5/2004 1:31:00 AM From Authorid: 26452 I HATE spiders, if I even thought I had a spider crawling on my I would have been freaking out, but what my main concern would be is all those meds they have you on while pregenant my jaw dropped down when you said he put you on Vicadin, that stuff is supposed to be STRONG. |
