A Recurring Dream

I've had this dream for a few years now, starting about midway through my senior year of high school. In it, I am back in high school but it seems like I have been gone for a long time. I don't recognize anything or anyone, and when I get to my locker, I can't remember my combination. I will then go to the office to get it, and by the time I get it I have to run back to the locker, then rush like mad to get to class on time. But on my way to class, I always realize I don't know where I'm going or what class I have next. So, I get a schedule. I don't get to class on time, I'm late, and I find out I seem to have missed months worth of work in the class and have no idea what's going on. I look at my schedule then, and I realize that I have a few classes on the list I've completely forgotten about... important classes that I've not gone to in a very long time. And of course, I always have a grade breaking test in them the next day. Sometimes I'll start to head home in the dream, and realize I can't find my car or the bus I'm supposed to take.

This is really about it, except that sometimes it will lead off into other things and sometimes the order is mixed up. The school and people are always different. There usually aren't people I know or places I know in the dream. Occasionally my old friends or boyfriend will be in the dream, and in it they know exactly what they're doing as opposed to the clueless me. I don't remember the vast majority of my dreams, but somehow I always remember this one.

The atmosphere of the dream I would say is frantic. In the dream, I absolutely freak out, have panic attacks, about not knowing my combination, or not knowing where my next class is. All I want to do is run away, but that is never an option in the dream.

I think this dream might be a newer version of a dream I used to have when I was little, where I miss the school bus in the morning and go chasing after it. It always felt like missing the bus was the worst thing in the world that could possibly happen in the dream, when in reality, these kind of things wouldn't bother me one bit.

What do you think?

Panic Dreams come from anxiety or a buildup of worry. I get them too, sometimes! The best way to get around them is to make a list of what you're supposed to do everyday. As long as you're not worrying all the time, you won't get them.
