Date: 5/3/2004 10:52:00 PM From Authorid: 55582 i don't think he should do the draft thing again i don't want go to war. |
Date: 5/3/2004 11:32:00 PM From Authorid: 12341 I doubt he has any other choice. Enlistment will surely fall, when the "perks" are being part of "active duty". And what's not cool, women are part of todays' military, being involved in war makes a difference? |
Date: 5/3/2004 11:59:00 PM From Authorid: 61977 I just do hope that if it does happen, that those that did serve and volenteered to serve will not be eligible again. As they have served their country. :0) |
Date: 5/4/2004 12:58:00 AM From Authorid: 28190 I haven't heard this, but that is kinda scary... I mean, if ya think about it, if they drafted both men and women, who would take care of the their children? Anyways, I dont think the draft will be instated anytime soon.. At least I hope not. *huge hugs* |
Date: 5/4/2004 1:30:00 AM From Authorid: 41708 If he does bring back the draft, I'm joining the Air Force. The enlisted don't fly off into battle. I'll serve my nation, but a pack and a gun is not how I'm going to do it. |
Date: 5/4/2004 3:33:00 AM From Authorid: 1799 god, i hope he doesn't bring back the draft.. can he even do that? i thought that was against some type of law or something nowadays? if he does, then i'm not doing it.. i'd rather run off to canada.. because we are supposed to have choices, and this is a choice i won't let them make for me. |
Date: 5/4/2004 3:51:00 AM From Authorid: 54968 Really? I haven't heard anything like this. |
Date: 5/4/2004 4:33:00 AM From Authorid: 49025 I think it's very scary. I heard that not only including women in the draft, he wants to raise the age limit. The draft is typically males ranging from 18-27. He wants to raise it to 34. |
Date: 5/4/2004 5:43:00 AM From Authorid: 42522 I hope he doesnt! But, I havent heard anything on this. |
Date: 5/4/2004 5:49:00 AM From Authorid: 48809 I have heard that Bush wants to do this too, and unless we stay out of the business of other Countries, we are going to need not only young men, but every woman and all the old men we can get! |
Date: 5/4/2004 6:02:00 AM From Authorid: 8278 wow. i really hope this doesn't happen. the thought of the draft is scary. i think of my younger brother who i know will never make it in war...which is why he never joined the army. and i could never imagine leaving my child. as i am sure many woman (and men too) think that. my husband tried SO HARD to join the army a little while back...but they wouldn't let him. he was on parole for an arson charge, so his parole officer said he couldn't join. he talked to the people at the army before he talked to his parole officer and the army had no problem with it if he could get permission from his parole officer. i think if someone is VOLUNTERRING (i think i spelt that wrong lol) to join, they should let them. |
Date: 5/4/2004 6:08:00 AM From Authorid: 62624 This country was founded on freedom. Freedom for a lot of things. I do not understand how someone can say that fighting for your country is not cool. The draft will enlist men and probably women. A lot of people take advantage of what these military people do for us. They maintain our freedom and help those who would like to achieve the same. I've always said that this country should have mandatory 2 year service for men and women once they get out of high school. This would teach appreciation to everyone. If the draft is going to reopen and I get drafted, so be it. My life will be in God's hands. Nothing I can do can change that. I've heard comments that some people would run and try to hide. Coming from a military family, rest be assured that they will find you and you will spend time in the military jail. I would fight for my country if I were chosen to do so. I have that patriotic sense in me and I think that it is a shame that there aren't too many people out there that would do the same. Sure, I would miss my family and children terribly but I have nothing to fear. I know that God will take care of everything. |
Date: 5/4/2004 6:49:00 AM From Authorid: 62423 Well said Kimberley. |
Date: 5/4/2004 6:56:00 AM From Authorid: 48809 I totally agree with you Kim, that anyone who is 18 and in good health should be forced to join the military service for two years! Those who take advantage of all the good things this country has to offer should certainly be willing to answer the call of duty if needed! It is not right to sneak off and hide and escape to another country when our country is in jeoardy.I remember this happening in the second world war and those who did this have always been looked down upon and seen as being cowards ! |
Date: 5/4/2004 7:05:00 AM From Authorid: 12806 It is a shame that so many "Americans" love their freedom, as long as it doesn't cost them anything. I am 43 years old and I would gladly go if it were required to maintain our freedom. Anyone who would RUN to another country (like Bill Clinton) can please leave now. You are a burden here, a welfare case, a freeloader.... |
Date: 5/4/2004 8:16:00 AM From Authorid: 2030 A draft would ensure a cross section of everyone in this country. If there is a draft there should be no exemptions. Let a cross section of our population serve, we would as a nation be better for it. |
Date: 5/4/2004 8:29:00 AM From Authorid: 36967 Probably false, just a rumor. |
Date: 5/4/2004 8:51:00 AM From Authorid: 47218 I doubt it, but if they do, then I think it's only fair. If men are forced to go, women should be, too. If women want equal status in society, then we should be prepared to accept the downsides of it. |
Date: 5/4/2004 8:53:00 AM From Authorid: 47218 I do think it would benefit everyone to do a couple years of service to their country-- not necessarily just in the military. |

Here is a link about this. http://www.commondreams.org/headlines03/1105-01.htm At this point, it's just speculation but it is something that should be discussed during the campaign. |
Date: 5/4/2004 10:05:00 AM From Authorid: 18527 Just like people who go AWOL right Raybone? |
Date: 5/4/2004 10:05:00 AM From Authorid: 18527 Personally, I don't want to be fighting along someone who does not want to be there... |
Date: 5/4/2004 11:02:00 AM From Authorid: 13119 It isn't true but if it was SO WHAT!! What makes it right to send your men off to war but not your women? What special rights are women supposed to be given? I am a soldier and have been for 17 yrs, I have done my tours overseas and would go again. If you are going to draft only the men then make the women go back in the home and stay there, if they can do the same jobs as men and have the same rights and freedoms then they deserve to get the rotten stuff that men get as well. |
Date: 5/4/2004 11:21:00 AM From Authorid: 55755 First off, I would never join the military (i'm female btw LOL). For the simple fact that, as a woman, I will never see the front lines of combat. We can fight, but we get to be the clean up crew. Forget that. I wanna be out in front with my AK blastin away the bad guys. HEHEHEHE Ok, maybe I'm a little sadistic or something. And secondly, if he brought back the draft, do you know how many people would resist?? Canada would fill up faster than a drunk's bladder. LOL |

From Authorid: 51952
I don't agree with anyone being sent to war against their will MEN OR WOMAN. And if he will draft woman making them be clean up crew would be sexist lol This guy just can't win here. I can tell you one thing. In general when it comes to Bush... Canada's looking REAL good. |
Date: 5/4/2004 12:54:00 PM From Authorid: 12806 Starfire, if you're "blastin with your AK" then you are on the wrong side.... We don't use AK's..... lol... |
Date: 5/4/2004 1:00:00 PM From Authorid: 13119 starfire, I hope that your country is different from mine (Canada) we have female infanteers and all combat arms trades, as a trucker and M113 dvr I have to tell you that we do go to the front lines. |
Date: 5/4/2004 7:57:00 PM From Authorid: 27046 Did us women not fight to get to serve in the military in the first place? Knowing this it would be ludicrous to think that if the draft was reinstated that it wouldn't or even shouldn't include women. |
Date: 5/5/2004 12:36:00 PM From Authorid: 13729 I dont think they will re-enstate the draft....What is the cut off age to join the military, 29?.....Make it 35 or 40, people are capable at that age, and if they want to join, let them........ |
Date: 5/5/2004 1:21:00 PM From Authorid: 62624 Actually, I read somewhere that they were going to raise the age to 34... |
Date: 5/6/2004 2:01:00 PM From Authorid: 51070 62624, I disagree with you. Freedom isn't being forced into the military. Freedom is making your own choices. And I should have the freedom to choose NOT to serve in the army if I don't want to! And if you are all for the military, go enlist. As for me, I have better things to do than to be molded into a killing machine. I know someone who used to be a drill instructer and he remembers a recruit being forced to eat his own vomit during training. Do I want to eat my own vomit? No thank you! The draft should be illegal and Bush should be impeached! PERIOD! |
Date: 5/6/2004 8:56:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 51952 AMEN. |
