well. My brother is already going to go to irag next year at this time. It stinks i tell you that. I am pretty sure the day when they draft women will not be far off. But lucky for us women dodgeing the draft will not be to hard, well, if we should choose to dodge it. |

yes, six months ago a friend sent me an application that he got over the internet because the government was hiring staff for the new draft boards. |

Have not heard anything. Its not a bad idea though. I say if you include the men you should include the women. Its an educating experience and you learn to not take for granted the freedom that you have and appreciate civilian life all the more. HUGS, |

I would dodge it and my hubby tried to join the national guard and they turned him down because of his allergies. |

I don't think they could draft both men and women though, because someone has to stay home to take care of the kids. I know this sounds terrible but if they were going to draft women, i'd get pregnant. surely they wont send a pregnant woman! I feel bad saying that, but a comercial can make me cry so i know i couldn't handle the stess of war. ~Charmed One~ |

hehe that was always my plan, to get pregnant. i know for a fact i'd be no help to anyone because of how badly the smallest things scare me/make me upset. but it's been some women who said if they do reinstate the draft, some women are piping up and saying they should be drafted as well. /shrug. |

i wouldn't be good in war at all...i'm the biggest wimp in the world, and I complain all the time.. just walking down the street is tough for me..lol. i'd definitely find a way to avoid it though. and i'd make sure my boyfriend could dodge it, because they shouldn't start drafting.. its not fair.. especially if they are being so picky.. that makes no sense. |

I know of men and women (parents) that both got sent overseas. A relative took care of their children...so it is possible. As far as being turned down for a tattoo?? Maybe if it was a symbol of racial hate but I seriously doubt that they turned him down just for that. The military turn people down for learning disabilities (this depends on how they score on their tests) and for medical reasons. I am very fortunate that if they were to reopen the draft, my husband would not be chosen because he has bad knees...he's had surgery on one. Now me, if I got drafted, I would go. I would fight for my country. You wouldn't have to ask twice. Would I miss my family and my children? Sure, but if I don't go out there and fight who will? |

Unfortunately, those who demand equal rights with men must be prepared to do the same job as they do when called out to defend our country! |

Posey...very well said!!! Women for years have wanted to be treated the same as men but when it comes to war...they completely freak out and say that women shouldn't go. I just don't see why not. |

as far as the tattoo thing, the tattoo he had was a cross. and also i know its true because my boyfriend is already in the military and they have began a new rule that if you have more than 5 tattoos you can't advance in rank and he was also told that once his active duty is over if they re-call him they will ask about tattoos and if he has more than 5 they will not take him. I know this is true, my boyfriend already had 5 tattoos before they started enforcing this stuff so he has been hearing a lot about it. I just don't see how if they are so desperate for people they could turn someone down just because of a tattoo. ~Charmed One~ |

Very interesting about tattoos. But you are right. "beggars can't be choosers". But if it comes right down to it, I believe that they will take anyone of sound body and mind. Also, if I remember correctly, they don't take peoples with a felony background. |
