**Need Help with Finding a Train from D.C.**

My mom and I want to visit my sister in New York City and we have searched the internet for trains and can not find any reasonable fares to get there. We are in Washington, D.C. right now and we would like to know how to get to New York City for a reasonable fare. My friend at work said she got to New York from Washington, D.C. for 30 bucks. I would ask her, however she is on vacation now.

Can anyone help me out with this? I have gone to the amtrack site and for 2 people it is over 300 bucks. Anyone know of anything to help me out? We want to leave on May 6 and return on May 9. Thank you!
