I always thought if my parents did that to me, I would be happy to get them in trouble! Because they sure would deserve it after what they put me through! I think the parents should have at least gotten the lump checked out. But they seem that they were too cheap and lazy to do anything about it. If my parents weren't getting free medicaid from the state, I probably wouldn't have good teeth because for years I couldn't go the dentist because they couldn't afford it. How can you get parents in trouble for that? It sure would be hard to do. So I think those people should have gotten more than 10 years because it's such a sad thing to see happen.  |

oh this is bad ,,,my 19 year old has cancer aml,i cant belive this,,,i will do any thing to help my son,,,even lay down and die if i could,,,if it would make him better...this is heart breaking.  |

That is just sick!! How do you NOT notice cancer? Uggg paretns like this just make me so mad!! The type of parents that leave their new born in the car in 100 degree weather, parents who neglect their children, or dont feed them, shower them, take ANY care of them. I want to become a foster mother to atleast 2 kids whos parents neglected them. I want to be able to show them that life isnt always hard.  |

I have to tell you, my heart goes out to her parents...I am sure they truly didn't know and now they are suffering doubly...the sentence as well as separation from their child...I am sorry, but this justice system is completely corrupt and I disagree with all of you.  |

Perhaps they didn't know, most likely they wouldn't. But even if they were aware she suffered a lump in the chest from moving a television, they still should have sought medical advice. It goes without saying, parents are caregivers, they are the ones who make all the decisions concerning children. When they fail to make the right choice or decision, they are held accountable. Simply being ignorant doesn't count, they could and should have sought medical attention when the child displayed signs of an ongoing condition. This didn't happen or occur overnight. They had ample warning and ignored the physical signs. Early parole will gaurantee they won't do ten years in prison. They will though have to live a lifetime in their own MIND..and with their own conscience, if they have one.  |

Please keep the victim, the daughter in mind as she is doomed at 17 years to living a life in a nursing facility. She will never have a full or complete life, will probably never be healthy again. The parents have lived much longer, long enough to have surely recognized a healthcare crisis when they should have. |

Such a sad situation ... how could it be that her parents didn't have sense enough to realize that there was something terribly wrong with her and take her to the Dr.? Some things we will never understand.  |

They should have gotten help when she started losing weight and other symtoms. If the girl was 17 why didn't she go to the doctor herself? This is wrong on so many levels and I am sure the whole story is not being reported. It is still so sad! -Sunni818  |
