hiya guys...how have you all been? I have been extremely busy, to say the least. Last month in school, waiting for graduation and working two jobs. Well Ii work at Braums, which is a fast food place, and I work at Wonderland, which is an amusement park. Well at Wonderland I am the supervisor for all of the Concession Stands. I am in the main stand, but I am suppossed to look in on the smaller stands. Okay, well I am having trouble with some of my girls in my smaller stands, but I am not allowed to say anything to them.
I am 17, this is my second year working at the park, and I am younger than some of the workers, but the workers that I am having problems with are younger than me. Naturally those are the ones who will not listen to me, because we are pretty much the same age.
When I ask them to do something I get an attitude and eyes rolled at me. Then i get lied to and they tell me they did it and they did not.
I am trying to pull rank, I am tring to take my authority and put it into action. My big boss (the owner of the park) will not back me up at all. She told me that I should not say anything, that she should do it. She does not work with these girls. If I am supervisor, shouldn't I have some sort of power?
I am not the type of person to let power go to my head, I have been supervisor since last season, I do not tell people what they need to do unless they don't do it. They know what their job is, and most of the time they do it right. It would just be nice, the one time that I need to talk to them, or need to tell them what they need to be doing, that I could, and that I would have my boss supporting me with it.
Am I wrong? Am I looking at this from a different angle than my boss is? It just irritates me, it is like i get the title, just nothing else with it.
