The mask of illusion blinds us all
to the reality of the world, like an abyss
of anomie, that no one can see until-
it has already swallowed it up
and the pain and crying of humanity
is overshadowed by the illusion of perfection
The strapping gods, and the bulging angels
look down and snicker, at the false imagery
that drives the mortals to despair and sadness
the ideal is unattainable, but they are desperate
they fight , like two lions for a dear, for the prize--
beauty, but there will be no winner, because
they are all losers
