Fridge Rules >>Bageera<<

This may seem like a really silly topic... but are there specific rules for your fridge like the left top corner is mine, the bottom right side is Sally's, the bottom drawer is Bob's... if you're opening the new bread wait until the other bag is empty etc?

I'm asking this because our fridge is chaos. I just went searching for the last 3 chocolate hot cross buns shoved in our freezer, and they're gone! I wrote on the whiteboard that they're mine as well! At home fights usually occur over "who drank the rest of the milk" and stupid things like that.

My dad has resorted to buying food that's repulsive to everyone else in the house, and my mum puts her name on her food. Naming the food doesn't solve anything though, because whoever eats it just turns a blind eye toward her name.

When my brother visits he does the "finders keepers" routine which we tried for a while but ended up not working. We had some Krispy Kreme's in our fridge and we didn't know that they were for my mum's work function... that didn't go down too well.

So my discussion is... how do you keep everything organised in the fridge/freezer? Do you have an order? Do you do my brothers version of finders keepers? Or do you just think I'm crazy for just bringing it up?

Date: 4/26/2004 6:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 37101    Well, it's only my mom and I that live in the house so our fridge is very minmal. I only eat once a day usually so if there's ever anything in our fridge, it's orange juice and condiments. And we don't mind sharing those. Heh. -
Date: 4/26/2004 6:06:00 PM  From Authorid: 62246    In my family, if you don't want someone to eat it, hide it. Other than that, no one in my house owns food. It's basically all everyone's. We usually just eat what we want and no one else really cares.
Date: 4/26/2004 6:06:00 PM  From Authorid: 10245    easy... only the grown ups are allowed in the fridge
Date: 4/26/2004 6:10:00 PM  From Authorid: 33573    Nah, basically anything in the house we can eat, we just aren't supposed to eat it all aat once, but that never happens ;P Occassionaly, there food that is someones and I will eat it but if its my dads he usually gets mad at me, oh well! If I have somethin I don't want anyone to eat I either hide it or put my name on it
Date: 4/26/2004 6:13:00 PM  From Authorid: 3835    I live alone in my apartment with my cat, Wiccan-Boy... Lol, he cannot open the door to the fridge, so the contents are all mine (-: I do however have to have certain things in a certain spot though... like milk- top shelp and on the left, butter- second shelf and in the middle *giggles* yeah, weird, but I can do it.. I do not have to share a fridge anymore !!
Date: 4/26/2004 6:23:00 PM  From Authorid: 20956    nah we dont have any rules ~ you can eat what you see. But since by brother moved out, i have noticed ALOT more food around ... i've worked out that he ate it before i even got to see it!!
Date: 4/26/2004 6:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 22992    Its the same way.. i sort of like the chaos though.. interesting to watch great post!
Date: 4/26/2004 6:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 23075    we dont have any rules either...basically whatis in the fridge is everyones...however if there is only say one piece of cake left or one pop left...which isn't very often...the person that wants it usually asks if anyone else wanted the pop.....95 percent of the time..we say no .... and then the person asking gets to have it...
Date: 4/26/2004 6:34:00 PM  From Authorid: 12133    Gina and I have our sodas (mine: Mt. Dew hers: Coke) that the kids can't have (they usually sneak them anyway) other than that, its pretty much fair game.
Date: 4/26/2004 6:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 20921    Its me and my mom, and we pretty much share everything.....in peace
Date: 4/26/2004 7:17:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    no real rules other then if it doesnt need to be in the fridge dont keep it in the fridge... coffee if it's in the freezer PUT IT IN A ZIPLOCK BAG!!! coffee will last longer if kept in the freezer but it's an item that has a strong odor and can infect other things like breads and such
Date: 4/26/2004 7:33:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    There's only three of us in the house. So as to who gets what food really isn't an issue for us LOL
Date: 4/26/2004 11:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 53909    I usually keep the soda, slimfast and beer on the bottom shelf. I always have to get on my fiance's back when he leaves an empty soda box in the fride. Why is it so hard to take the box out when you pull the last soda out of the box? Uhm...that's about it really...LOL..everything in the fridge is just mainly for me and my fiance.
Date: 4/27/2004 3:53:00 AM  From Authorid: 54968    We just have everything in the fridge for everyone. No rules, really.
Date: 4/27/2004 8:54:00 AM  From Authorid: 53054    No rules....everything is everyones except when it comes to condenced milk...that is always mine if there is none in the house i get upset about it LOLZ...and i have even started to buy my own! HEHE....but apart from that it is fair game! *hguz* cool post...oh and the cook in the house always cleans the fridge so where ever she puts it, thats where it stays! *hgzu*
Date: 4/27/2004 9:49:00 AM  From Authorid: 4144    no rules. i buy the food and we all eat it! i would, however, label something if it was for work or a holiday dinner or something like that. that probably wouldn't keep my daughter's fingers out of it though. she's a pig!
Date: 4/27/2004 11:33:00 AM  From Authorid: 36901    My hubby and I don't really have rules. If it's in the fridge, it's up for grabs. If there is only one left of something or we're low on something, I'll usually leave it for him though just to be nice.
Date: 6/1/2004 4:24:00 AM  From Authorid: 49763    It goes like this I eat everything in sight and my mom makes me buy a block party (32 can box) if I drink the last pepsi yep that's about it. ~~
Date: 6/1/2004 5:25:00 AM  From Authorid: 44321    The only rule I have about the fridge is ..if there is a mouthful of any drink left in it's container do not put it back finish it off please or *gasp* make more tea/koolaide don't leave it for me to make LOL.. not fridge related, but I am guilty of leaving a small amount of cereal in the box, only because I buy a few of the same cereals and I can just mix it in,the old man gets mad when he picks up the cereal and finds it like that
Date: 6/1/2004 3:11:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 62552    Thanks all for your replies... and Medusa... my mother is like that! Except she completely empties the jar or box and puts it back =P
