I just want to know how long it took you to learn to play the guitar. I've just started playing it for about two weeks and I only know the basic open chords. I did a search on the net and found that theres hundreds of chords, do all guitar players really know ALL of them? what was it like when you were learning how to play? was it maddening? it's so frustrating when I make those plucking sounds. so how long did it take you to learn to play? and do you know all the chords there are?

Date: 4/26/2004 3:32:00 PM  From Authorid: 45630    noone can know all of the chords. There are many chords that are being invented every day. When playing the guitar remember that it isn't the amount of chords you know it's wether the chords you do know sound good together. Try randomly putting fingers on differnt strings and frets in different combinations. PLay them. If you like the sound remember where you put your fingers and try and find a chortd or another sound that works well with it!
Date: 4/26/2004 4:06:00 PM  From Authorid: 62453    i've been playing for a lil over 2 months, and when i find chords i just pick a not and then find others that sound good with it. there is no way anyone can learn all the chords...at least i hope not cause that would just be amazing, stick with guitar even when you get frustrated cause it'll be worth it later

Date: 4/26/2004 7:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 39370    Well, Ive been playing for about 5 years and I'm still learning. Theres always something new to learn. It was very frustrating at first. Especially since I could only play for so long cause my fingers would hurt. But, now I'm much better it (I'd like to think anyways lol). Just keep at it...perhaps someday you'll be the next Eric Clapton or George Harrison
Date: 4/26/2004 7:38:00 PM  From Authorid: 12133    I've been playing for over 20 years, and I still suck at it
Date: 5/7/2004 6:39:00 PM  From Authorid: 58593    Yah like Kurtveder said: there are LOTS of chords I know quite a bit of them myself if you have a musical ear, you should have no problem with the chords.... eventually they will come naturally and yes, guitar chords ARE invented every day there are probably millions! I bet if you just stuck your fingers anywhere that would be a chord Yah, but don't worry, once you get used to the mostly used chords, you'll be rockin' in no time ** Luv Ya** *Jynx*
Date: 5/7/2004 6:41:00 PM  From Authorid: 58593    also try playing by ear.... you'll play chords you never knew you.... KNEW! Lol. Really, any notes that sound good together really is a chord **Luv Ya** *Jynx*
