"Ruins"....kronk

Unkept lawns sparkling in the moonlight-

Tattered curtains waving in the breeze-

Armadillos digging up the driveway-

A family of opposums..living in the trees.

Faded columns..They once were milky white.

Eight-foot windows..Dare to peep inside?

Shadows..animated when the wind blows.

Dancing spirits..See you and they hide.

Mighty, green oaks..they bear witness.

Silent dreams of days of yore-

Master and his haughty mistress-

Their dark blood stains the floor.

Spiders, worms and rats now prowl,

those once-proud and polished halls.

Snakes and bats nest in the eves.

Their waste runs down the walls.

If you enter, you might see me.

Pay no mind to my wail.

Stay a while..I'll entertain you.

But...There's a small fee for my tale.
