Date: 4/24/2004 10:36:00 PM From Authorid: 53909 There's been times when I let my fiance drive my car and he would do the same for me with his car. I don't feel comfortable having someone else drive my car...even sometimes when it's my fiance lol. He can be a crazy driver sometimes. |
Date: 4/24/2004 10:37:00 PM From Authorid: 16845 LOL! My Pulsar yeah....I didn't even really care for my father to drive it....my subaru eh I don't care...when ever danny is out here I hand HIM the keys cause I don't wanna drive LOL |
Date: 4/24/2004 10:45:00 PM From Authorid: 42945 I'm sure Ted thinks this of me everytime I drive our car...you might notice that I said "our" car Egan....lol!!! he's not game to say anything derogatory because I'm his driver and I'm sure he couldnt walk the distance home if he criticised my driving lol!!!he used to but after pulling up on the highway and telling him to get out, he soon learned to put a zipper on the mouth...lol!!! hugs |
Date: 4/24/2004 10:46:00 PM From Authorid: 42568 YES! I just let my brother-in-law drive my car on Easter. He was going about 30 over the speed limit and I had my eyes closed the whole time. |
Date: 4/24/2004 10:47:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 21867 I know what you mean StarChik...I now refuse to let my own brother drive my car. Which probably has a great deal to do with one of my cars coming back with a blown gearbox after he went to change down from 5th into 4th...and instead hit 2nd :S |
Date: 4/24/2004 10:49:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 21867 Hehehe...Becky is a lil, eeerr, 'retentive' about her Pulsar huh?? Its okay...I understand...maybe we can form a Automobile Addicts Anonimous or something |
Date: 4/24/2004 10:50:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 21867 LOL! Zema...now THATS something I've done before after someone commented on my driving. *hits the brakes and turns to passenger* "Well...you've seen how I drive, now let me see how you walk...bye bye" LOL! |
Date: 4/24/2004 10:50:00 PM From Authorid: 24924 Rarely does anyone ever drive MY car. I can truely share your angst at even the thoughts of such. On the rare occasions that it has/does happen, they never seem to return the car the way it was when they got behind the wheel. When I get back in my car, the drivers seat is shoved up against the steering wheel, or practically on top of the back seat. The radio, stereo, CD player, etc., is all jacked up, changed, reset, turned off, and or just generally all messed up. NO, I don't like others driving my car. |
Date: 4/24/2004 10:52:00 PM From Authorid: 11348 Well I just got my new car in November so it's pretty precious to me. A few weeks after I got the car, I made the mistake of letting my sister drive it. I told her to keep the car OUT of the driveway because I knew there was at least a foot of snow in it and she would get stuck. So I got a call later that day from her saying "I got your car stuck in the driveway... if you want it that's where it is." So of course, my boyfriend and I had to push it out ourselves which was NOT fun... it took hours. So now only my boyfriend drives it and I'm fine with that. I make him drive usually anywhere we go, I prefer to ride. But no one else drives my car! |
Date: 4/24/2004 10:52:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 21867 Ooooh...thats another pet peeve of mine too Bethann. Sure, I drive MY car fast, and its been modified specifically to BE fast and handle incredibly well. But I still get white knuckles if anyone else is driving and starts hammering the gas. |
Date: 4/24/2004 10:54:00 PM From Authorid: 13283 I panic when the step daughter uses my car . Young peeps tend to drive on the wild side , but I cross my fingers and hope for the best . I wished , just once , she would toss the litter she leaves inside the car when she uses it . Razzy aka |
Date: 4/24/2004 10:55:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 21867 ...oh...don't get me started on that one Catherine *snickers* I'm somewhat larger than most people...so anyone else who has ever driven my car has required me to then readjust the seat, steering wheel, mirrors etc...and I have NO idea how my friend managed to reset all the stations on my stereo once...but I was NOT a happy camper having to reprogramme them all back in. |
Date: 4/24/2004 10:57:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 21867 Hehehe KrazyKritter...OMG that reply reminded me of the time I got a similar call from my oldest brother some years back "Bro, umm, think your cars been pinched" "WHAT!!!! HOW??? Didn't the Alarm sound??" "The alarm??" *ack!* So I feel your pain. |
Date: 4/24/2004 10:58:00 PM From Authorid: 38849 Well Agent, I think I would be in the same boat as you with my Fiero. Hey, it's a work in progress still(at least until I can get a better paying job, or get my game in progress(actually decent progress at that) to make me some serious cash). Yeah, anyway... the goal is: put a 3800 series 2 SC engine into my fiero, and maybe port the intake and exhaust, and put some Koni Adjustables on the Fiero... and... oh yeah you get the idea. -- |
Date: 4/24/2004 10:59:00 PM From Authorid: 16845 I miss my pulsar so badly... |
Date: 4/24/2004 10:59:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 21867 Oooo...another pet peeve of mine there Razzy. IF someone is gonna be borrowing my car, the LEAST they can do is remove the BK or McDs wrappers and throw some gas in it!!! *breathes deeply to calm himself* |
Date: 4/24/2004 11:01:00 PM From Authorid: 24924 Egan, If the occasion arises where I must drive someone else's car, I'm very very careful to return it exactly as it was when I got in it. I don't go changing NOTHIN'! I'm serious now; I guess it is because of the way I feel about someone driving MY car. I'm that way with staying over at someone's home too. I usually try to leave things BETTER (cleaner/neater) than when I arrived. Oh, and did I tell ya, I love my car? LOL |
Date: 4/24/2004 11:02:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 21867 Ahhh Zayden...now you're speaking my language brother *big grin* Yup Yup...the GM Ecotec 3800 V6 Supercharged motors are such a brilliant transplant into the lil Fieros and certainly provide them with some serious amount of mumbo Go hard man...she's gonna fully haul! |
Date: 4/24/2004 11:03:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 21867 Ooooh...thats right Becky...thats the one that got written off huh. Commiserations...its in Car Heaven now, where the freeways are clear and the gas is free. |
Date: 4/24/2004 11:04:00 PM From Authorid: 16845 *hangs head in a moment of silence for her dearly departed pulsar* *Sigh* |
Date: 4/24/2004 11:04:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 21867 Exactly how I am too Cath. I tend to return any car I've ever used with a full tank of gas and washed...just respectful. Just wish others had the same level of respect sometimes. And yeah...I kinda picked you sorta loved ya car |

Date: 4/24/2004 11:21:00 PM From Authorid: 38849 The problem I have having with my Fiero right now is deciding whether to keep my manual tranny, or go with the automatic that comes with the engine when i buy it... -- |
Date: 4/24/2004 11:24:00 PM From Authorid: 16845 ^^^ manual |
Date: 4/24/2004 11:25:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 21867 ^^^Definitely manual. Only bicycles have two pedals |
Date: 4/24/2004 11:27:00 PM From Authorid: 16845 Ha! see...I know nothing about cars but I'm RIGHT |
Date: 4/24/2004 11:32:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 21867 Totally right Becky...besides...need a manual to be able to hold a decent controlled power-slide and drift around the track/corners...and trust me, with a SC V6 powering your lil beast...DRIFTS ON!!! |
Date: 4/24/2004 11:38:00 PM
From Authorid: 38849
Sweet. If I keep the manual, then I am going to have to do alot of work on it... Right now, and ever since I bought the car, it never properly disengaged... Right now I am to the point thinking that: 1. it isn't air in the system... bled it for nearly 8 hours one day with no air coming out. 2. that the clutch assembly isn't issue in the tranny itself so that leaves me that either the master cylinder is bad or the slave cylinder is... my inclination is the slave cylinder since it appears to be aftermarket(and i've read HUGE horror stories about the aftermarket slaves on the fieros). -- |
Date: 4/24/2004 11:42:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 21867 Could well be the slave cylinder. Though I also had something similar happening on one of my old cars and traced it down to a badly seated clutch-fork...so who knows. |
Date: 4/24/2004 11:44:00 PM From Authorid: 16845 aw heck Danny just go win the lotto chuck that car and buy one that's already fixed up...less work.. |
Date: 4/24/2004 11:47:00 PM
From Authorid: 38849
When we changed the clutch on the car, (flywheel included, and well everything in the darn thing was changed)... we made sure it was to spec and then checked again to be sure... still didn't disengage properly... So we bled and bled, and bled some more... still no change... finally we replaced the clutch pedal(fieros have an issue with those) still... no luck. so i am now thinking it is one of the two cylinders... reason for engine swap? the original engine had a head leaking water into the oil making it look like chocolate milk which cost a bit of cash to replace: crank and cam shafts, bore cylinders, replace head, machine head and replaces valves and guides, rockers, springs, pushrods, pistons... and timing gear since it was all apart this fix lasted for two weeks when the stupid freaking timing gear broke(THE NEW ONE)... UGH... so decided right then and there... not fixing that engine ever again and putting a new one into it... thought about a v8.. but gas prices now makes me say v6 -- |
Date: 4/24/2004 11:52:00 PM From Authorid: 38849 So anyway, the friend I was mentioning earlier... I was thinking about the GTP automatic 4t63e automatic, which as far as automatics go, seems like one nice tranny. However, I am so used to my left foot having something to do, an automatic really kinda scares me anymore! LOL -- |
Date: 4/24/2004 11:53:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 21867 Ahhh but Becky...wheres the fun in that?? Hehehe...my folks said to me once "Which all the money you have sunk into building and rebuilding, modifying and destroying cars you could have just brought a brand new Mercedes or BMW Sportscar by now...or a house" lol! |
Date: 4/24/2004 11:58:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 21867 Hahaha...oh, sorry Zayden...believe me I'm laughing WITH you, not at you Yup...spent many a frustrated day or week or month fully stripping down and rebuilding motors...then having to do it all again when something else let go. Just the nature of the beast sometimes...and chances of rebuilds are greatly increased when you take your car on the track and cane it like a naughty doggie. The SC V6 that come in most GM cars here make 190kws...and the GenIII V8 versions of the same car have approx 200kws...so the difference is not that much. Raise the boost a lil and the SC V6 is even more potent...plus...power-to-wieght ratio alone will make the performance blistering enough with a stock SC V6. |
Date: 4/24/2004 11:58:00 PM From Authorid: 38849 My dad asks why I think it's worth doing this, and I counter, why do you think the 1970 Malibu is worth fixing? Dad says, "good point. well taken." -- |

Date: 4/26/2004 5:28:00 AM From Authorid: 10245 I don't like ANYONE driving my car. After being without my own wheels for a couple of years and having to *gasp* SHARE one vehicle, I'm even more touchy about it. I hate having to readjust my seat and mirrors and can't stand hearing what he calls "music" come blaring from my speakers when I turn the key. I have a habit of turning everything off (heater or a/c, radio, wipers....)before I turn the car off. He doesn't... it startles me everytime! And I can't stand driving his dog, which is what I'm stuck with when he takes mine. My mother-in-law once commented that letting someone borrow your car is like loaning them underwear... just too personal. I haven't been comfortable even thinking of using her car since. |
Date: 4/26/2004 9:37:00 AM From Authorid: 35160 nope, i completely trust my man to drive my new truck. but hes like you. his car is his baby, and he doesnt like anyone to drive it but him. the very first time he let me drive it, was the night we got 13 inches of snow. only reason i was driving his car was cause i was the designated driver, and my old truck was broke down, lol. |

Date: 4/26/2004 8:20:00 PM From Authorid: 20956 lol!! god you sound exactly like a guy i know. I love my car but i have no probs with my bf driving it, he knows lots about cars and has driven pretty much everything under the sun (from cars to 4x4s to boats to trucks) and he drives her (my car) fine. My MUM on the other hand is a whole different kettle of fish. She drives an auto 4x4 - it is the latest model so is VERY easy to drive. My car is manual and very low. Its is only 4 years old so still easy to drive but she hasnt owned a manaul in years, and never a car as low as mine. Once i was parked behind her and she need to go get something from the shop and said she'd borrow my car. before i could give detailed instructions as to how you need to be VERY careful driving in and out of drive ways she was in my car and out of there. I almost bursed into tears when i hear my exhaust firstly scrap on the road when she pulled out of the drive way (we have a steep drive) and then she scraped the bottom front on the drive lip. i had to walk away as visions of gear crunching filled my mind. needless to say, she hasnt driven it again!! |
