I have a real deck of Tarot cards plus a book on how to read them. I find it difficult as well to determine what the cards are getting at, because there are a lot of different interpretations regarding each card, and each card in relation to the others. I've never tried to go by instinct before, I'll take a hand at it |

You have the major cards to your tarot and the minor cards. In your major Arcanas you have cards that can have reverse meanings if they come up..upside down. The Minor Arcanas shows four elements of earth, air, fire and water..these represent feelings, thoughts, what you have or want to have and how your going to achieve. For Ex: the suit of coins shows material posessions and financial..this is an element of the earth which will have the earth symbol on most tarot cards...then you have like the suit of swords which represents the element of air this shows conflict and states of mind..those were examples...when you get into the two of coins, or two of swords and so on you will have to determine what that card means for you and the person your doing the reading for. The more you use them the more they will click for you....Since tarot is a "tool" to help focus in on certain areas of the questioner it helps to have some degree of psychic abilities to go along with them. oh, and there are sooo many spreads that can be used you will have to find whats comfortable to you and what you would like to use...there are ones of the zodiac *each place represents a birth sign*, three card spreads *past, present, future*..Celtic cross and so on..these are the more common ones. |

Well, you are supposed to memorize All the cards...haha, which would take Forever, but i'd pay off if you had the time to. I think it's a combination of what the card mean sin writing and what you interpret it to mean. What books say the card means is a generalization. You have to relate it to what the question asked or the person/situation it is in. It doesn't come easy.. and the only way you can get good at it is if you practice giving readings... You can even do someto yourself if needed. |

Tarot Cards are used to open your eyes to something important in your life at that time. Your cousin is right use instinct and what you are feeling at that time. Yes every card has diffrent meanings, but all you need to know is the basick meaning and how it makes you feel. Tarot Card readers read the person first, and they get the meaning of the cards by what the think the person is like. I saw Ben & Teller and they took three Tarot Card readers that were charging for there sevices and sent the same man to all three, and got different readings. All they did was change the mans clothes, hair and how he acted befor the reading. I'm not saying that Tarot Cards are frauds, but don't use a book to get the meaning of them, use how they make you feel... |
