Thank you, dear Zema. Charles passed away last year on Oct. 21st. He so reminded me of a minister written about in this post: http://www.unsolvedmysteries.com/usm356386.html ![]() |

You know what I mean, I'm loosing my perspective, perhaps I GAINING it. How's that for perspective! Common sense and thinkers, and those that DO SOMETHING to help the world will always matter to me, always carry a special place in my heart, because they do, what they DO, because someone has to. Without those "someones", the world would be meaningless. IMO!!! ![]() |

Brenda, my beloved friend; you do have a good memory. Yes, Reverend Byrd came to visit me one Sunday afternoon after services at the Westside Baptist Church. He told me he heard that I had been skipping school, and added that he also noticed I had not been in Sunday school. I was very shy, but managed to say simply: I don't have any shoes. He smiled and patted my head and he and his wife left. He came back later with a box and handed it to me. They were black and white bucks. The next day, I got up real early in the morning, and was the first one to be at the school bus stop. ![]() ![]() |

I thought so, and yes, my memory is good, I remember everything we talk about, he left his impression on me as well. See how it works? I remember being given a nickel for sunday school, today that might not count for much, but those people left their impression on our lives. In a most remarkable way, they DID something to ive us faith in human kindness, regardless, without ever persecuting our family or where we came from. I so rarely meet people like Charles aanymore... ![]() |

Good morning. I just sat down at my puter, and saw this message from a very special person here at USM. I do adore her, for she is REAL. She is the REAL McCoy; know what I mean? Quote: "Sometimes along Life's pathways there will come a Friend…Who gets to Know you Inside out, right to the very End…The Depth and Height and Width of All that makes you 'You'…And they Continue liking you No matter what you do…They get to See inside of You where Others dare not Go…And soon they are a Part of you and you Find you Love them So…They let you Laugh and share your Joy,they Help you Through the day…And no matter what you've Said or Done, they Never turn Away…Sometimes when Things are getting Rough and when the Crying's done… They'll join with you in Games and Play, just like when you were Young…And had a Special Playmate who would run the Field of Joys…That Children find around the Bend with other Girls and Boys…They're Honest and they're Faithful, they try Never to Betray…The Precious Trust between you as you Live from Day to Day…It's so Hard to Express sometimes and though it might Sound odd…My Best way to Describe them is They are a Gift from God…And so, My Friend, I'm writing with a Thankful Heart to say I'm So Glad I have a Friend like you to Help me on my Way…So Thank You for just Being there and Thank You for the Smiles…But Mostly Thanks for Running with me though we're separated by Miles". **********I would like to say to people like this special and beloved friend: I'D RUN THROUGH FIRE; I'D STOP A BULLET; I WOULD do anything for you. I cherish you. There is so much I am unable to express; but I know in my heart......and as you have said so many times to me: "I GET IT". Thank you, LINDA. ![]() |

Reminds me of what my friend Marcia said the other day. "Sin isn't two people living together out of wedlock, or a gay couple seeking marriage. Sin is someone starving to death because they can't afford to eat and can't find a job. And we do nothing.." ![]() |

It sounds like he was a wonderful man and teacher. You are fortunate to have known him. Its too bad that we don't apply more effort to working against these types of obscenity. It also shows that just the smallest act of kindess for another combats it. ![]() |

Oh, Contraire!, Busy Bee. I must disagree with you there. AMERICA is the most religious, church going, predominately CHRISTIAN nation on Earth! History has clearly shown that the more religious a country is, the greater intolerance and bigotry, and indifference there are for all things humanitarian. It often calluses people's natural human sympathies on behalf of trying to sell the religion. Many religious people are so wrapped up in "proving" that their god exists that they'd degrade the memory of those who died in a tragedy, just to "show" that their god displayed a "miracle" and saved THEIR loved ones. I remember people talking about "miracles" , and how THEIR prayers were answered even with regard to the most simply mundane things. Yeah, right. God's gonna listen and make sure you got that job you were praying about....but totally ignores thousands crying out to him whilst burning up or being crushed in the Twin Towers. Suuuure. More religion? More belief in God? NAW....we need MORE EDUCATION. We need LESS lying politicians and greedy clergymen. We need LESS religion. ![]() |

OBSCENE is the many Americans who have no clue as to who Thomas Paine is, and what part he played in forming the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, but dang it, they sure know who the mythical god Jesus Christ is! These same people blindly, mindlessly, send out their godspam e-mails telling the non-believers in their god that if they don't want "Under God" in the Pledge, "You should go live with the Taliban" or some other equivalent nonsensical "Leave the country" pseudo-patriotic drivel. Equating a god belief with patriotism is just about as obscene as it can get, people. ![]() |

Appears as though things have gotten a whole lot more OBSCENE in the last year since this was posted. I fear for our country in these times of extremism here and around the world. ![]() ![]() |
