I'm sorry this has happened to you sweetie, no one has the right to copy your work and claim it to be theirs, I post a lot of quotes and the very occassional poem that are written by others and I always place their names as the authors, every now and then I write a poem of my own, but its fairly rare ....I hope it doesn't happen to you again sweetie...hugs |

I am an english major and i am very aware of the dangers of plagerisim. I just wish more people would take this seriously. People you can get into a lot of trouble like ( Kicked out of school, Fired, These are extreme examples and can happen, and will, they can destory your life.) |

If I know the source, I'll always put the source. Sometimes, quotes/poems have "author unknown" or "anonymous" so I just repeat what's there but I never take credit for things that aren't my own work. |

Playing devil's advocate and I by no means condone plagarism... Isn't it flattering if someone likes your work enough, they think it's good enough, to plagarise it in the first place? But yeah, plagarism is wrong. - |

Yeah, I agree with you. If you're going to use things from my works, please say so. I didn't work hard just so you can steal it from me. We had a situation in school earlier this year dealing with plagiarism. Since people in my class have been writing essays, many have just copied and pasted, or re-written someone else's essay. Many times it was obvious, but none of us ever got in trouble. Well this year (I'm a sophomore) our history teacher noticed that some people had been plagiarizing. To prove it, he spent 8+ hours searching for bits and pieces of people's essays on the internet. He found 35 people (and our class is only about 80 people) who had plagiarized, and he failed them. It was a big thing, not just because of that, but because he accused everyone, even after he had proof that someone did/did not plagiarize. So yeah, I know what you mean. Though it may be harder, use your own materials, or at least site the ones you did use. It's not worth taking the alternative. |

it is a very serious matter and its something you learn to avoid in any english classes you take. I haven't been plagiarized before, but I have friends that have been and have done it themselves and its not a pretty sight. Sorry this happened to you. |

When I was in college a teacher would have us send our papers to him via e-mail, therefore making it easier for him to go and copy a line and do a search for text the same. I think if I was a teacher I would do the same thing. Students need to give teachers more credit than to think that a paper written by anyone, at no matter what level their education, could be prefectly written with all correct spelling, grammar and correct style on the first go around. Even the most seasoned writers have flaws and mistakes and have a proofreader. |
