*~* Movie Turnoffs! I Don't Pay Good Money To Hear or See Some Things! *~* Hey,Hey,Paula

This afternoon we went to see "Jersey Girl". I thought, well, cute little girl, should be a decent movie. One again, how wrong I was. I got SO tired of the cursing! And then, her dad and this woman decide to get intimate and are surprised by the little girl, who, oh, by the way, played "show me your's/show you mine" with her little male friend! Give me a break! Why do they have to do that?

Reminded me of another one I looked so forward to seeing, only to be upset at the use of sexual junk in it; "Uptown Girls". I love Dakota Fanning and would have gone to see "Cat" but I heard it was the same - sexual innuendos. ARGH!

And then there was a TON of smoking in "Mona Lisa Smile"! And "Jersey Girl" had smoking too! What happened to the law about smoking in the media? I thought it was not allowed anymore and to show the name of a brand was totally out of the question. In "Lisa" they did indeed show a pack with it's name. How do they get away with this? Smoking is sneaking in everywhere anymore, even on TV, at all hours!

It's getting to the point where it's hard to find a good, safe form of family entertainment anymore. Sad state our world is in these days, but then this deception has been going on for a long time! Will it ever stop? Probably not. Just give bad behavior time to be forgotten and then have a star/performer come out with a new album or movie to promote. Funny how that happens to someone who seems to have been "washed up" and all of a sudden their face is everywhere due to their negative behavior...

It seems like a movie will even add one curse word so they won't be labeled as "G", because after all, "G" doesn't sell like "PG" or "PG-13". Think about it; How many movies do you know that would have been "G" were it not for ONE or TWO curse words? Comes to mind - "ET", "Elf", "Cheaper by the Dozen", "Scooby-Doo 2" and the list is endless...

Date: 3/26/2004 9:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 21867    I agree. What I find a turn-off in movies is sex for sexs sake. You don't need to include some flesh to make your movie any more appealing. An example would be Matrix - Reloaded...I found the Neo/Trinity Sex Scene, the near naked Zionites dancing in the mass rave scene at the beginning, the dodgy 'desert' scene at the Merovingian's restuarant to be without merit, offered little to the story and merely added for 'perve-value'...typical sex-sellout I thought. Peace,
Date: 3/26/2004 9:43:00 PM  From Authorid: 49091    I've noticed a LOT of drinking in TV shows now days too. Smoking, cursing and all that doesnt bother me. Only cause I have a real bad problem with cussing on a daily basis and I'm so use to seeing smoking and such in movies.
Date: 3/26/2004 9:45:00 PM  From Authorid: 57079    Well I see that a lot but there just trying to attract the teenage crowd which is who sees the most movie in theaters at least from what I see. And its becoming more and more cool to cuss and smoke and things as such because of movies and media like this but they keep it like that because it is established as cool so they put it in there to attract people to the movie they do it for the money. I'm not against it in some movies but in movies like you were describing I agree with you.
Date: 3/26/2004 10:37:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53961    Slowly taking away from family values. Before long it will be hard to find a new "G" movie anywhere.
Date: 3/26/2004 10:50:00 PM  From Authorid: 50864    Paula that is one of the reason I lve Hidalgo no cursing no sex it is a great movie justlike the old westerns and besides it has Vigoo LOL but I can't wait for the DVD I can show it at the nursing home I work at the residents will love it
Date: 3/26/2004 10:57:00 PM  From Authorid: 62367    I agree. It would be nice if they made movies for adults or older teens without all the violence, sex and swearing. That's one reason, I like golden oldies and Disney movies.
Date: 3/26/2004 11:07:00 PM  From Authorid: 7952    I completely agree..
Date: 3/27/2004 1:24:00 AM  From Authorid: 59385    I think saying taking away from family values is a little excessive to say the least,g movies just don't sell i even think on a clip of cat in the hat when it first went into the movies mike myers (cat)made a inuendo about the kids mom.. it was pretty funny but don't rememeber the rating on it
Date: 3/27/2004 8:29:00 AM  From Authorid: 62423    I agree. It's disgusting.
Date: 3/27/2004 9:50:00 AM  From Authorid: 50499    I'm in total agreement here. DragonFlyer
Date: 3/27/2004 9:55:00 AM  From Authorid: 27403    Is it the writers or is it the public? I just can't decide anymore! I know what you mean though; how many of the television sitcoms do you think could make it if they took out the sexual references! They would be silent movies! LOL! And that is without even getting into the content of the movies out nowdays. So, are the writing writing what the public is asking for or are they just hiring every two=penny hack on a street corner. I don't know, but I know that what was once "A" and "B" movies are now "A" and "X"! Love and Light
Date: 3/27/2004 9:56:00 AM  From Authorid: 27403    Mrs. Strider, I just gotta see Hidalgo. Love and Light
Date: 3/27/2004 4:57:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53961    Hidalgo is awesome and very family friendly.
Date: 4/4/2004 5:29:00 PM  From Authorid: 54968    I agree with you 100%!!
