The headstone was quaint and extensively harder to locate in the run-down cemetery than any other resting there. It was set by itself in a tranquil section of the Saint Carousel Cemetery. The surrounding trees made a vast effort to keep its leaves far-flung from the headstone of Mr. Harrison Troy Webber. Although his gravestone was quite beautiful, in its own way, no one knew why they feared it. On Halloween night, little boys and girls would dare each other to go visit Harrison's grave. Every town has its own spooky tale, and this grave’s story belonged to Westward Central.
Rosie Baker never liked vacations. Although she protested to any sort of negligent behavior, Rosie wanted to prove to herself that she did not fear Westward Central any longer. She was well established, single, living in a house that she inherited from her parents no longer than 3 years ago. Now with her parents gone, Rosie had plenty of time to express herself through artwork. While she felt guilty for thinking of her parents as just a disturbance, she underwent a recent transition in her life. Nothing seemed to matter anymore besides her paintings and that eerie cemetery, her newfound obsession. She felt obligated to pack up her things and spend a few weeks near the cemetery in a local hotel. Money was never an issue for Rosie, so she didn’t even flinch at the estimated cost she was given from the clerk.
As she was packing her shirts and jeans she got a mysterious phone call. When she picked up the receiver all she could hear was static. She repeated "Hello?" a few times, and then decided to give up on the caller by hanging up the phone.
This will be a promising vacation, Rosie thought. She had set in her mind that this brief time off to go visit the cemetery will result in a peace of mind. If only she knew what was in store for her, she would think twice about going.
The drive to St. Carousel only took just a few hours. She drove while munching on snacks from a gas station she had stopped at a few 20 miles beforehand. The sun was lustrous and heartening. Thoughts of the cemetery hastily flew from side to side, whirling in her mind.
