What does he think of me?

I really like this guy called Chris (if you need a last name too then just note me and I'll give it) and one of my friends has sort of asked him out for me (without my permission or me even knowing. to put it more simply she told him i liked him, betraying my trust but i wont do into that) and he said 'not saying yes, not saying no'. This was last year (as in 2003, not last school year) but I still really like him ever since even though a whole situation blew up between him and one of my friends (he kissed her, but i never got a straight answer as to why he kissed her but i dont even think he liked her in that way so i dont understand it. she later accused him of trying to rape/sexually abuse her. no one really understood what was going on and i ended up very stuck in the middle and felt like i was blamed for a lot, even though they both denied actually blaming me, still felt that way). In the past he's said he'd never date a year 10 but people used to say that he did flirt with me a lot.

My friend (who had later kissed and accused him) said that he told her he liked me a -lot- but he says he never remembers saying that. She's sworn she told the truth. To bring things up to date, on friday night it was the cast party for a show we just did at school, he asked me to dance and we were very close when dancing and at the end he kissed my hand (it was so sweet!). He has a girlfriend now though, even when that was happening. I was just wondering if there's any future for us or if it's just a lost cause?
