Date: 3/3/2004 8:19:00 PM From Authorid: 60052 You'll eventually find out what your "thing" is. Everyone has at least one thing that makes them special, some have more than one. It took me a while to find out what mine is, but I eventually found it, and so will you. |
Date: 3/3/2004 9:18:00 PM From Authorid: 20956 i agree with to die for - it might take awhile, but you'll find your footing somewhere. some people find their 'thing' when they are very young others dont find until they are much older. so dont stress, theres plenty of time! |
Date: 3/4/2004 7:29:00 AM From Authorid: 13297 Don't worry I'm 26 and I'm still trying to find my calling. I know people twice my age who are still trying to figure it out. Life is about the journey and not the destination. That is a hard one to put into practice but once it sinks in, it's kind of liberating... I think you are also learning a valuable life lesson: some people are smart enough they don't have to work within the confines of the system. If you have a high enough IQ or exceptional talent - you don't need the public education system. If school isn't your thing do the best you can and pour your energy into your talents. If you don't know what your talents are start trying different things so you can discover them. Please don't read into it that you shouldn't get an education or you should slack off in school. I'm not saying that at all. But for those people you mentioned they are getting by in school and putting their focus into their natural abilities. If it moves them toward where they want to go in life there is nothing wrong with that. You don't need a 4.0 to play in a rock band - however, you do if you want to go to Berkeley and be an astrophysicist... It all depends on the choices you make and the decisions you come to regarding your future. Best of luck to you... |
Date: 3/4/2004 7:30:00 AM From Authorid: 13297 I guess my whole point by my last rant was be careful not to equate success in the public educational system with intelligence. The two don't always interrelate... |
Date: 3/4/2004 7:38:00 AM From Authorid: 11097 I am in the same boat as you- I think way too much, but I think it's a blessing in disquise really. Some people find their calling or mission in life sooner than others, and often a special talent isnt needed to complete a mission, because the person is already special enough (lol hope that made sense) what I am trying to say is dream big but always know the small things are most valuable and important. I had all these huge dreams, and I will forever carry them with me... but I also realized there just might be a different between dream and mission/calling sorry if I am confusing, I often confuse myself but goodluck in all you do, and know one who can think above and beyond and point out things like this, has a very special talent in the making ((hugs)) |
Date: 3/4/2004 10:54:00 AM From Authorid: 19460 maybe you have some sort of gift that isnt needed by the public yet. whos to say you wont do something really awesome when you are older. I dont think I have any gifts. But then again, I had 3 kids by the time I was 22, so maybe one of them will grow to be someone amazing and I will get the credit for having had them and raised them. You just never know. Something you do that you dont think is all that, maybe super special to someone else. Dont analyze yourself! Just be you and to heck with everyone else. You can only compare you to you. |
