"popular" people on USM..............Systym44

ok lately i have been seeing people talking about how there not in the "popular" crowd on USM or sumthing. ive never noticed more popular people on USM. I dont think there are "popular" people on USM. Sure some people might say "well i have 1 or 2 awards and they have 7 or 8". but that means nothing. awards are how much you contribute to USM most of the time not how many friends you have on here or if your part of the "popular" crowd. Someone might be shy and think that people just ignore them but they have no right to say that because if there to scared to talk to people then they shouldnt expect to have alot of friends. So could someone tell me what all this talk about a "popular" crowd on USM is?

Date: 3/3/2004 4:36:00 PM  From Authorid: 25856    All I know is I'm the most popular person here, so everyone needs to stop trying to beat me. Annie is the ULTIMATE in cool, fool! *stomps foot* Actually, I have no idea. Good luck.

Date: 3/3/2004 4:40:00 PM  From Authorid: 27558    the same question boggles in my mind day in and day out systym. Well USM Enlighten us!
Date: 3/3/2004 4:43:00 PM  From Authorid: 57653    I think those people are referring to the regulars who are well known on the site. You see their names often pop up in posts by other usmer's or you often see many posts or replies by them. I think, when I first joined I thought of it the same way. The "popular" crowd that is. But after the time I have spent on USM I see that it is not that they are "popular" per se as much as how much they put themselves out there. They take the time to answer posts, give honest and in many cases positive replies, and welcome newbies to the site. They are well liked for just those reasons....and they earned it! But to some it may come across as a popularity thing....

Date: 3/3/2004 4:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 19460    Thank you. This popularity contest business is for the birds. This isnt the place to try ad become popular, and it isnt the place to gripe and say people are more popular than you. USM is for fun, sharing, reading, and meeting new people.
Date: 3/3/2004 4:50:00 PM  From Authorid: 8278    silver fire said it great! i couldn't agree more.
Date: 3/3/2004 5:00:00 PM  From Authorid: 45630    I still think that there is a USM Mafia but I don't think they are necessarily the popular people. These guys are more the brown nosing people who want to become admins by any means possible rather than just playing nice and taking whatever they get with a grain of salt.
Date: 3/3/2004 5:06:00 PM  From Authorid: 58334    yep, Silver Fire got it on the dot
Date: 3/3/2004 5:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 53360    who really cares whos popluar and whos not, i talk to everybody who crosses my path, no matter where they rank on the USM totem pole.
Date: 3/3/2004 5:12:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 32133    thats the thing there is no rank for people.
Date: 3/3/2004 5:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    *Nods* yep....Couldn't agree with silver fire anymore

Date: 3/3/2004 5:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    there is always going to be a popular person and a less popular person in any situation may it be school, work, play, on a website too... though sometimes i think the popular people get more leeway then the not so popular people in many of the above situations even though it's said they dont
Date: 3/3/2004 5:53:00 PM  From Authorid: 44960    In the long run, Humility will always win out over popularity. I am no better than anyone else on this site, better yet, why should I be? (((Huggzz)))
Date: 3/3/2004 5:54:00 PM  From Authorid: 33573    I agree with Midnightly
Date: 3/3/2004 5:56:00 PM  From Authorid: 55386    I was so tired of not being noticed when I came here, and then I went into chat more often, and I joined the Reader's club. Believe me. You have to get out there, to get friends.

Date: 3/3/2004 6:02:00 PM  From Authorid: 1799    there ARE popular people... having popular people is inevitable. some on usm are more well known, or more liked and such... but thats life.
Date: 3/3/2004 6:03:00 PM  From Authorid: 1432    **agrees with Silverfire** ..
Date: 3/3/2004 6:04:00 PM  From Authorid: 33925    Silverfire said it so well.
Date: 3/3/2004 6:21:00 PM  From Authorid: 25556    Okay i knew this was bound to happen after reading all the responds to my post. I wasnt try to be all like " oh no, pitty me im not in the popular group, bow down, give me attention, blah, blah" i have heard so much crap about the awards. some of which i agreed with and some i very strongly disagreed. I am well aware alot of this comes from soured people who are jealous and want attention. I did not make my post for those reasons NOR did i make them to get an award. Obviously I dont deserve an award because if i did im sure id have one. What i was saying was that there are alot of people i truly believe deserve an award and have none. I now know that it can be suggested to an admin for consideration. Great! If any of you were offended by my post please go back and read all of my comments. I am well aware that not everything i said came from the sensible side of my brain. I have changed my original suggestion. *hugs*
Date: 3/3/2004 6:23:00 PM  From Authorid: 14754    is this issue going around AGAIN?...I think this topic came up over a year ago...
Date: 3/3/2004 6:35:00 PM  From Authorid: 53961    ME! ME! ME! Pick ME! BTW, what am I running for?
Date: 3/3/2004 6:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 54968    You're right. The "popular people" worked for their awards. They contributed and deserve them!
Date: 3/3/2004 10:14:00 PM  From Authorid: 62146    I don't know how popular or unpopular I am on here But this site is a site that has a gaurented positive reply on each of your posts. Everyone gets exsepted here no matter how popular you are. If there was a popylar croud on here it would be the admins but then that would be cause they keep this very site up and running there for they are in hight rant. I have not gotten involved with this croud thing I just talk to who ever and hung in the chat room.
Date: 3/4/2004 12:34:00 PM  From Authorid: 62334    It sure seems like a popularity contest here One set of rules for some and another for others.
Its wrong and makes some feel most unwelcome. Enough said.

Date: 3/4/2004 1:00:00 PM  From Authorid: 62334    I'm going to add since I am still flaming. If you do any of the following :: If lets say Bob does something "" and then lets say Mary does simpler thing.. And you bust Bob but leave Mary be and don't bust her. " THATS showing Favoritism. Now the person might not realize that however it is what it is. And makes lets say Bob not only feel unwelcome but hurt as well. I am not tryin to be a trouble maker but I just want those to see how it "might make " so people feel. If your going to set rules let them apply to all and not just a selective few.
Date: 3/6/2004 5:01:00 PM  From Authorid: 36537    I would not know LOL
Date: 3/7/2004 12:16:00 AM  From Authorid: 57232    Yeah I'm Popular, as in Popular like that now defunct WB show. I'm sorry I just wanted to plug that show because I miss it. I swear I'm not making light of your post. I agree mostly with the hybrid of Silverfires answer mixed in with Kurtvedder's
