I must agree and disagree. I agree that the new Winston Cup system is going to utterly trash ratings. I predict it will be here for three seasons at most. The sponsers are getting too big for their britches and I really hope the drivers stand up and say 'No more. We aren't going to race until you get your priorities straight.' But... I have to disagree that Dale would be able to do anything to stop the changes. If anyone can, it's the France family. When they see what's happening... they better do something. |

NASCAR does not in any way determine how much money teams spend getting ready for the races, nor does it determine the state of the national economy. And I fail to see how Dale Earnhardt would have made any difference in the state of NASCAR today. NASCAR is redirecting some of it's efforts to bring in more ratings towards the end of the season, which if you think about it, should make more sponsors willing to step up and sponsor a team, becasue they will get more tv time for their buck. |

EDDO in regards to NASCAR dertermining how much money teams have to spend for a race...NASCAR determines it whenever they institue a new rule. And beleive it or not but Dale Sr. had alot of pull with NASCAR...look it up.-SW |

The only rules that they have changed lately have been on the increase of safety or in the way of making the cars more equal and thus increasing competetion. Increased competetion increases ratings, which will help bring more sponsor money in. Granted at the time it costs teams money, but NASCAR does not say that Hendirick Motorsposts has to employ over 300 people, many of them high paid specialists. NASCAR does not say that teams have to employ extra people specifically for pit crew. NASCAR does not say that teams have to spend countless hours in mega-expensive wind tunnel testing for every single race car. Teams spend as much money as they can, becasue most of equals faster race cars. Now, one area that NASCAR COULD reduce costs in is to reduce the yearly racing schedule by about 3 or 4 races. That would help a ton. But teams are still gonna spend the money. |
