I believe that we might see some difference but not alot cause we still have all of those other fast food places and not to mention junk food out there but at least Mc Donalds is trying to help |

I serisouly doubt it. They could always go to another restaurant..and just like Dreamsy said..people are still going to eat bad, it's become second nature to most people. |

Why everything is focused on the *overwiehgt people*.. this is going to sound mean, but (I dont mean it in a mean way :P) What about people who are NOT overweight who WANT to eat a SUPERSIZED fry?! Huh! You gain fat if you dont burn off as much calories as you eat that day. If you do say yes then it is up to you to go and BURN off those calories yourself! Besides, if you are overweight, McDonalds ISNT the best place to eat. So No, I believe McD's should keep supersizing it, people just need to get off their butts and exceirse or SOMETHING! |

I agree Dreamer..it is so ridiculous to even think "supersizing" is responsible. I think the basic problem is we are richer, couch potatoes (tv, computers, cars), our kids eat fast food more due to both parents working or because of single parent households, more access to junk food and prepared foods and more food choices. I'm old enough to remember when we had only two fast food places in our fairly large town I grew up in...and it was a several times a year event to go to those fast food places, Mom always gave a choice..milk shake or fries, I would agonize over which to choose. |

I definitely remember when fast food was a treat, I eat more of it now than I did as a kid,(still not THAT often though) mostly because my hubby's a better cook than me lol, and I don't like making him cook when he's done it all day long |

Nope. McDonald's and the other fast food restaurants are not responsible for our weight problem, the individuals themselves are. The individual is the one who orders the food and puts it in their mouth, not the fast food chains. Americans need to stop blaming everyone else and take ownership of the problems they've created themselves! (No, I'm not a skinny person either, in fact I weigh 248 lbs down from almost 300) I too used to try to blame everyone else for my weight problem, but when I started keeping a food diary and logging every single thing I ate and drank, I realized it was ME, all ME, that was the cause of the problem. |

Yes but what about those of use that aren't overweight? So I can't get a supersize if I want it? I rarely eat fries but When I do I want the big old thing. Should be my choice. Nobody forces the food down those peoples throats. I am sorry but I do NOT feel the fast food servies are to blame for people over eatting or being over weight. So do I think this will matter? No I don't. |

The responsibility is not with mcDonald's. The responsibility lies with the people not able to have enough self control to not order them. |

I'm not sure if they are totally doing away with the supersizing, or if they are just no longer going to ask if you want it supersized. I'm sure there won't be any french fry police (yet) who will bust you for ordering beyond the federally mandated limit of one small order of fries per person though. |

Well McDonald's is trying and that gets rid of one of our "excuses". Actually, I think it all started when "stretch pants" came into fashion. When I was young and wore jeans that stayed tight and dresses with non-stretch waists--I was thin! Now I wear my stretchies and expand without realizing it. TTFN, |

LOL Garbage..reminds me when I was in college and gained the "freshman 10" my mom blamed it on the new baggy jeans that were so popular at the time. I didn't want to tell her that it was actually my drinking that put the weight on (yes, beer packs on the pounds), I just agreed and said it must be the cafeteria food and I didn't realize I was gaining because baggy pants are, well, baggy. |

Just found this: The burger giant said it has begun phasing out Supersize fries and drinks in its more than 13,000 U.S. restaurants and will stop selling them altogether by year's end, except in promotions. "The driving force here was menu simplification," spokesman Walt Riker said after McDonald's disclosed the change in strategy in a brief statement late Tuesday. "The fact of the matter is not very many Supersize fries are sold." |

I think another contributer to America's weight problem is the food pyramid. i dont see how it is possible for one to eat like 10 servings of the wheat group, is it 3 of veg, meat, dairy, and fruit? well i dont know the exact number but if thats wut americans r eating each day, no matter americans have weight problems. |

I can't think of any restaurant that is an overall healthy place to eat. Most offer a few "healthy" items that only a few take advantage of. As far as restaurant food goes the less the better. Make eating out a treat again. It took major surgery to break me of the habit of eating out every week. Better food and more exercise will help most kids and most adults too. |

we dont even have 'Super Size' in Australia, just small medium and large But at the end of the day, i dont really think that this is the reason why people are overweight, i mean no one FORCES people to get supersized ... if you eat there just get what you are hungry for, no need to buy the biggest thing just cause its there. people need to learn to take responsibiltiy for their own actions instead of blaming others |

Ummm..Kelly..No I dont't think Americans thinner because even though what you eat depends on your weight it's also what you DO. If you just sit around the couch and mooch on everything then in the losing weight game your losing. During the summer I lost 15 to 20 pounds and slimmed down to a size 3 instead of a 7. That is beaucse yeah I didn't eat as much but ALSO I went swimming, playing football, running around with friends and all that fun stuff. So nope I think Americans are just getting lazy (like the rest of the world). The more we make everything faster and better the lazier we get. But ya know that's just my opinion. |
