Thank goodness this round of the competition is coming to an end, because the talent was excruciatingly not apparent during this week, just as in week two. Another night of lackluster performances, pitch-problems and ugly facial expressions ;), I was more than glad to see it end. However, there were a few jewels in the rough and I will expose them as I introduce you to each of tonight's competitors.

To vote for one or more of the following performers, call 1-866-IDOLS-__ __ or text message 57__ __.

And here they are:

01 - Suzy Vulaca - 21 year old gal from the Fiji Islands, introduced at the Arizona tryouts - "Unbreak My Heart" - Though vocally in tune, I was completely unmoved by this once tear-evoking song originally sung by Toni Braxton. There was really nothing special about it, as if a robot were singing. Randy said it was a good song for her voice, really good. Paula said she did 'good' and has grown as a performer. Simon didin't disagree, he just suggested it was forgettable and lacked star quality.

02 - John Preator - 23 year old college student from Utah - "That's What Love Is All About" - John started off dreadfully, and I couldn't understand half of what he was singing. Basically he was a total ear sore. Randy said the whole thing was just painful! Paula talked about his pitch problem and Simona actually said he'd be good performing on ice. I sat terribly unimpressed...

03 - Heather Piccinini - 20 year old from Springfield, FL, who reminded Paula in earlier competition of Kimberly Caldwell from last season - The sassy begining was a big turn-off and had me reaching for a bucket to hurl in - like a ...did she say bad dream? Yeah, that's it - "New Attitude" - OH!! So that's what she's trying to sing! Ew-ew-ew-ew-ewwwwwwwww is right!! Randy said it wasn't good enough for him. Paula agreed that it was the wrong song choice and it was a cheesy performance. Simon said she tred too hard--a desperat performance and her facial expressions were UGLY! I personally was LOVIN' Simon's brutal honesty once again!

...This is like a bad remake of Group two...isn't it? Wake me up from this nightmare!!...

06 - John Stevens - 16 year old HS student from NY - "Always a Woman to Me" - I've always loved-loved-loved this song and tonight didn't change that love one bit! I found John's performance sweet and enduring and just think he's a cute as a freckled pup :) I sincerely hope that he goes far in life whether he moves on in the competition on A.I. or not! Randy said he was almost falling asleep. Paula missed the Rat Pack throwback from performances in weeks past. And Simon said he's a terrible performer but has a very distinctive quality and hopes he does well with the votes...and so do I!!

05 - Jasmine Trias - 17 year old HS student from HI - "I Wanna Run To You" - Jasmine started off really strong but her performance began to unravel towards the end. However I was impressed by the quality of her voice for her younger age. Randy asked her to choose a better song, Paula said she handled it like a pro and at that point I wanted to Fed-Ex Paula some Q-tips ;)...Simon said that she had the potential to be a very good singer and she was good enough for him.

06 - George Huff - 23year old Omelette Flipper from The Big Squeeze...New Orleans, LA - "Always & Forever" - I think he had a rough start but quickly redeemed himself through one of the most solid performances of the night. I loved the raspy quality in his voice and have my fingers crossed that he will continiue to prove Simon wrong as he was only invited back to the show after another competitor was removed from the competition after being arrested for drunk driving. Randy said he was the best male singer in the competition yet this year...therefore making him the best of all...even if they are stupid enough to let William Hung back in as one of the wildcards...and I swear if they do I'll scream!! Paula said he glowed and was warm and she was lovin' the tone. Simon said George reminds him of the backline of the Temptations quoting: "He doesn't have the charisma to be a star."

07 - Lisa Wilson - 23 year old waitress from Georgia and part-time model - "Come To My Window" - Why Lisa? So you can scream at me out of tune?? I wondered if this was a joke or a forgotten clip from last night's "American Idol's Best of The Worst"...Randy said it was very pitchy, she was shouting and it wasn't the best he'd seen her. Paula also noted the screaming and shouting and commented that Lisa voice became a bit grating on her ears. Simon said he'd never seen someone open their mouths that wide before..."You could drive a car through there!" And said simply that she would not make it through...let's all hope not!

08 - Tiara Purifoy - 22 year old from WI and was on vacation in HI when she just happened to find out about the try-outs...how lucky was that?! - "I Wanna Dance With SOmebody" - I found her performance cute and her talent outstanding. However, I was disappointed with her rolling strings...she got totally out of hand. Thank goodness for her that the competition isn't too stiff tonight. I could see her possibly moving on tomorrow. Randy talked about the modulation or what I call strings getting weird and the arrangement seemed in his opinion to be partially at fault. Paula said she was one of the strongest competitors vocally though she was pushing too hard, and Simon said the whole performance was a complete mess. Paula said she needed to interact with the audience more, but I felt she did that more so than any of the other performers tonight.

Thank goodness this round is over...so ladies, start gabbin'!!!

>SpaceCase<

PS I wanted to mention that I loved the Hawaiian yesterday with her little song she wrote. It was absolutely beautiful and much more riveting than half of the total sum of performances in these four groups that did go past the initial try-outs. This goes to prove that Paula, Simon and Randy are capable of BIG mistakes!

Date: 3/2/2004 6:45:00 PM  From Authorid: 8278    alot of painful listening tonight. but i have to say, i am voting for John Stevens. (maybe i am a little biased here. he lives 15 minutes from me. gotta pull for the hometown. LOL) i was really disappointed in Lisa Wilson. she screamed the song and it was driving me crazy! just had to voice my oppinion on that. LOL
Date: 3/2/2004 6:48:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53836    John was one of my favs along with George. I just think John S. is as cute as pumpkin pie and I simply love his vibrato!!
Date: 3/2/2004 6:52:00 PM  From Authorid: 8278    i do have to agree with you spacecase. he's a doll =) although (and i know i say this on every post. LOL) NOBODY can compare to Clay, John is one of the good ones. I watched that special last night too. I thought the army girl was pretty good too. i thought that when she first auditioned too. some of the people they put through are a joke. week 2 was aweful! and a few tonight weren't that good. maybe they are all just paleing in comparasion to Clay. LOL
Date: 3/2/2004 6:52:00 PM  From Authorid: 20750    LOL I'll have to come back to this later!
Date: 3/2/2004 6:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 11341    Can we say 2 words Snore....Earplugs! Geez This season is whats the word? Bleck! I love John! Do I think he sang the best tonight? No Do I think he will be the next American Idol? No I do however think he has an amazing voice. I miss the crooners, the sound of "pure" voice. No bells, no whistles, just voice. George does shine, he is such a wow I dont even know how to say it. He just radiates hmmm joy? I myself wouldnt put him thru. Tiara did have a good voice, but the way the song was done make me want to hurl! My pick was John (psst he was # 4)
Date: 3/2/2004 6:55:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53836    LMBO @ Cage....yeh, that must be it
Date: 3/2/2004 6:55:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53836    Please do Moondrop!
Date: 3/2/2004 7:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 6867    This is strange, but I am all for the boys tonight. George Huff..I agree with you, love the raspiness he has in his voice. And I love that smile and the little chipmunk cheeks. He seems like a great person who I think will go far in the business regardless of what Simon says. Oh man, and John Stevens...how cute is he. That is a gorgeous 16 year old, with a voice that I think is extremely mature beyond his years. I would like to see him make it through to the top 12...I think he could go quite a ways as long as he is willing to work hard to improve. Tiara Purifoy...I like her...but i was wondering what was up with the runs...they were here...they were there...that performance to me was like a big ol trainwreck IMO. I would like to see her in the competition, she's capable of much better, but we will see. The others...like Simon often says...are "forgettable" My top 3 picks for the night are George Huff, John Stevens, and Tiara Purifoy. There was not too much talent to choose from tonight...I'm sorely dissapointed. Is there any grain of truth to the whole William Hung, wild card rumor? I like Will, but I would prefer they keep the competition serious, if I was voted into the top 12, it would be an insult to me if William Hung got to compete along side me, after I had worked so hard to get to where I was. hmmm, can't wait til the wild cards are picked. wonder who they will be. Love Yourself,
Date: 3/2/2004 7:12:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53836    Gia, your top three are the same as mine Thank you for stopping in and offering your thoughts, I always enjoy reading your comments
Date: 3/2/2004 8:28:00 PM  From Authorid: 51070    Eric Yoder should have been in this week instead of last week - then he would've gotten through. Hopefully he comes back as a wildcard.
Date: 3/2/2004 10:03:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53836    DMK, HOW IN THE WORLD did I miss your comment??? Geesh, just kick me next time, would you!! ITA about crooners...melts me everytime. We should rally for the return of crooning...and the gentleman-like ways of the crooner and scrap the rap and all of their crap about gigalos, spendin' lots of dough, always surrounded by lots of hoes...or whatever, LOL This season is going to be a strange one for sure...last year I had Ruben and Clay pegged from the get-go...this year it's really up in the air...again, so sorry I missed your comment!!
Date: 3/3/2004 6:27:00 AM  From Authorid: 15228    I turned it off during John Preators performance...i couldn't stand to hear it.
Date: 3/3/2004 3:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 31673    I don't know, I liked the army girl that sang "Boogey Woogey Bugle Boy" (did I spell that right?) in Monday's "Untalented" show. What was her name? Anyway, I thought she was likeable, spunky and that she had a good voice. Better than some of the finalists. Did anyone else feel that way? Maybe I'm crazy, but I liked her. I think they should bring her back for one of the wild card spots!
Date: 3/3/2004 8:20:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53836    Melodious, the Boogy Woogy Cutie did a wonderful job redeeming herself Monday...I was sorta sad she wasn't a wild card.
