I Went To This Party, Mum

I went to this party, mum
I snuck out last night
I could have sworn I saw you watching
It gave me an awful fright

But I guess you didn’t see me, mum
As I climbed down the terraced wall
And I ran like hell towards the sound
Of that college hall

You see it was a college party, mum
The one I told you about
But I found that when I got there
I couldn’t even hear myself shout

Everyone there was drunk, mum
One guy asked me to dance
But I did just as you said mum
I said no to the drunken man

He gave me a stern look, mum
And shoved me against the door
But luckily that was all he did
And I collected myself from the floor

I’ve never been so relieved, mum
As I was when he walked away
I knew I didn’t want to be there
I knew not to stay

That was when I left, mum
Or at least that's when I tried
Because that man’s girlfriend came over
And told me not to lie

She screamed at me loudly, mum
And my hands began to shake
I told her I didn’t touch him
As my body began to quake

That was when she did it, mum
She threatened my life to a hell
But then I didn’t get that option
As I saw the blood, it fell

She had a bottle in her hand, mum
And she smashed it against the table
The head of it she drove into my stomach
Making me feel so unstable

That was when it happened, mum
When the silence came
My sight turned to black
As if being washed down the drain

I don’t remember anything else, mum
I don’t remember waking up
But I know I could hear you crying
And feel your saddened touch

Where is it I have gone, mum?
Is it the place I was told?
That place that people called heaven
Gone there at 15 years old

I wish that I could tell you, mum
All that you mean to me
I wish I hadn’t snuck out last night
Just stayed in a watched TV

Maybe if I’d done that, mum
I’d still be alive
I wish I could say ‘I love you, mum’
Or comfort you as you cry

But I guess that it’s all over now
As I slowly die
But the pain has gone away, mum
And so I love you and good-bye
