Staring at the piles of stacked boxes, Corina sighed and picked up the new phonebook she picked up while in town. She thumbed through the yellow pages until she found the telephone servers' section. After jotting down a few numbers on a scrap piece of packing paper, she left the echoing house and headed out to her car.
The nearest gas station was fourteen miles down a lonely farm to market road, and Corina suddenly felt the impact of her decision. She attempted to drown out the echoes of the past two years by cranking the volume on her stereo, but it didn't work. It never did.
Ahead, in the blinding darkness, were the lonely lights of the small convenience store. Corina welcomed the interruption in thought as she pulled her silver sedan into the parking spot closest to the little store's payphone.
After getting out of her car and adjusting to the extremely cool evening climate, she pulled the crumpled piece of paper from her coat pocket and began to dial the first number written in her own familiar scrawl.
The voice on the other end answered politely, "Thank you for choosing AllCall, my name is Mark. How may I help you today?"
