Well, I did Atkins for a while, except I simplified it for myself - No starches, no processed sugars ( as in, only carbs and sugars I get come from green vegetables and fruits, with more green veggies than anything else ), and ( for the most part ) lean meats. I felt good, had balanced energy, and lost a good bit. And yes, I drank water like crazy. Are you on the Atkins diet specifically as per doctors orders? ![]() |

Also, diet will only go so far - you'll need to hit some cardio two to four times a week to keep ANY diet working at it's fullest potential, otherwise your metabolism will eventually stabilize itself to the new intake pattern. ![]() |

Midnightly, I have to ask, do you have any solid knowledge of the Atkins diet, or actual nutrition? For the first two weeks of Atkins, a period called ' induction ' is required, where the body recieves ZERO carbs or sugars to cause the metabolic shift required. After induction, carbs are gradually introduced back into the diet, but the vast majority is protein and then fats ( around 45-35-20 ). ![]() |

Are you drinking the water requirements? Also you maybe taking in too much carbs,I think on induction your only supposed to take in 17 carbs per day. Are you eating the advantage bars?Drinking the shakes? I don't think those are allowed on induction. www.lowcarbfriends.com they have an awesome Bulliten Board, maybe you can try there? Good Luck. :~)I'm doin the same diet and its working pretty good ive lost like 3 pants sizes since sept.Hopefully you can get everything straightened out. :~D Also I think Midnightly is talking about Somersizing, its the same thing except you are allowed more fruits and things. :~) Hugs&Cookies ![]() |

I don't assume to know anything about the Atkins, seriously am thinking of doing it, but I think when I do it (Feb 15th hopefully) I'm going to pay VERY special attention to the fat/sugar intake. When you focus on one aspect you forget about the others. That's why this 'Low Fat' thing of the past was so bad because Low Fat meant high sugar/carbs. I hope you get it figured out. ![]() |

Okay, I am trying to lose a few pounds via Atkins and I was following it closely and I lost a bit, then all of a sudden, it stopped. I figured out that I was eating too many of the protein bars (they are high in calories, even though I wasn't going over in carbs), the site recommends that you limit these. Also, I found out that Splenda, Aspartame and other artificial sweeteners contain some carbs. I was drinking Fruit 2 O's (flavored water) because it said that it was zero carbs, but it contained an undetermined of Splenda. One tablespoon (or 10 packets) of Splenda contain one carb. Get a carb counter book, this can be exceedingly helpful and at first look up EVERYTHING. The only people who don't lose on Atkins are the extremely metabolically resistant (there are instructions for that in the book and on the site), or you have a yeast problem or food allergy (again there are suggestions on the site) or finally, you are not doing it right. As soon as I eliminated those things that were holding me back (or tempered their use a bit) I started to lose rapidly again. Good luck!! ![]() |

By the way on induction you are supposed to limit your carbs to 20 or less. Most of those carbs must be eaten in the form of veggies. ![]() |

Maybe you are drinking too much water... substitute sugar for natural sweeteners like fructose and eat raw veggies, and juices, specially orange and grapefruit.... Hope this helps!! Smile and be happy!! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Face it - The Atkins diet is a fad diet. You'd be better off just cutting fat out of your diet and exercising regularly. Studies show that people who go on the Atkins diet tend to go into a state of ketosis, something your body goes into only when you're very ill. Also, it has a tendency to give you doggie breath. If I were you, I'd get off that diet immediately, eat well balanced meals, and exercise at least a half-hour a day. Include some walking, pilates, or weight-lifting in your regime. To lose my 35 pounds, I just did about an hour and a half of exercise a day and cut out all the junk. I lost the first 21 pounds in a month. So get off this diet immediately before you develop any health problems! I'm serious! ![]() |

The Atkins diet doesn't work for some people: differences in metabolism, fat absorption, etc. Here's an alternative: Read this book, "Fit or Fat", by Covert Bailey. The first line reads, "Diets don't work!" Bailey's solution is simple, cut out all fat from your diet, and increase your physical output. Using his system, I lost 120 pounds in ten months! ![]() |
