My doc was just trying to convince me to go on depo I told her no way no how I'm too chicken with all the horror stories I've heard....due to my families history and my stature and the fact my gyn put me on the WRONG PILL she just switched me to a 'mini' pill....LOL... |

Well on the shot I never got pregnant, never had a period and gained a ton of weight. Oh and cried all the time was tired and achey. Getting of the shot was the best thing I ever did but at the same time it was the easiest birth control I ever tried. Good luck. |

I started depo, i only got 2 shots, but i didnt get pregnant for untill 2 years after the shot, and i didnt use anything else in that 2 year period. i did gain a little weight, but it didnt effect my sex drive any, and my periods went to 2 months apart, instead of 1. but with the first shot i think i didnt have a period for 3 months. i opted for the shot because you only have to get it every three months, and i would forget to take the pill. i was satisfied with it |

I have heard soooo much about the depo shot messing up your reproductive organs, causing weight gain etc, etc. We have all heard the stories. I take orthotricyclin (however you spell it) and ive been on it for over a year and it works well. Pills are a HUGE pain though but I stick with them because I figure if im responsible enough to have sex then i should be responsible enough to take the pill. If you were diligent about taking the pills and you still got pregnant then maybe you do need something stronger like the shot. But if its just that taking the pills is to big of a pain then try the patch. I hear their great |

Well, I have been on Depo Provera twice now..the first time I was on it I gained about 8 monthes in each 3 month period between shots, for a grand total of 32 pounds in one year..so I went off it and back on the pill. After I got pregnant as a consequence of forgetting my pill, after the birth I went back on Depo and this time I have not had any weight gain. I have never experienced the lack of sex drive nor the hair loss. I love the convenience of the injection..once every 3 monthes and you're good..and as an added bonus, no monthly curse!!! At least for me..now I've heard others say that they do get it, that they spot..eveery person is different..but good luck, I hope this helps. |

I was on the shot. I had my period for 6 entire months straight. It was horrible! Terrible cramps, massive flowage, I did gain a little weight 10 pounds in 6 months. I got pregnant, had a miscarriage, it was horrible. After the 6 months were up my doctor refused to give me another shot. I think I was a bad extreme though. |

I went for about 4 years without my period on the shot. I liked that, but there was a little bit of a weight gain. Finally I started getting afraid that going so long without my period would affect my ability to ever have another child so I got off it and I was pregnant in about 6 months. For the most part, I would recommend it. But it seems like a lot of other people have had negative experiences. |
